Chapter 5: A psychopath is born

"Doctor you are urgently needed!"

Beam was consulting a child when the nurse came bursting in. He glanced up startled and got up instantly, "Mrs Bulva started haemorrhaging again?"

"No, it's patient in room 146, he keeps insisting on seeing you. The stitches on the back of his head ripped open somehow but he won't let anyone approach him. He's bleeding profusely..."

Beam quickly jotted down some prescription for the child and followed the nurse to Forth's room. He was fine this morning, so what happened all of a sudden? Did he tried to walk again?

His worried face become even more worried once he saw Forth half sitting calmly on his bed with blood running down his neck and staining his hospital gown. Doctors and nurses surrounded him but none dared to touch him with the death look he was throwing around.

"What happened?" Beam hurried to his side and started examining his head. Forth replied in a neutral voice, "I was coming to see you but I forgot I was bed bound."

A nurse stood by with supplies and Beam rapidly started cleaning his wound and told him tightly, "hold on, this will hurt."

With swift hands, he had him stitched back in no time at all. Forth didn't burst all of his stitches, only two yet the area was now swollen and sore to the touch. He bandaged it gently and lowered his head to the side, making sure that he doesn't hurt himself more. After making him comfortable, he looked at the doctors and nurses and thanked them. Once they were out of his room, he diverted his attention to Forth and sighed impatiently.

"I feel like I am talking to a five years old Forth! How many times do I have to tell you this, you are still in a fragile state and any mishaps can be dangerous. Your head for example, you could have developed an infection. Why are you being stubborn like this?"

Forth gripped his hand and tugged him closer, "come here, I want to smell you."

Beam hesitantly approached and sat on the corner of his bed. The big man brought his hand to his nose and sniffled, he smiled and close his eyes contently, "you smell so nice, it feels so familiar. I have vague recollection of you cleaning me and sharing your warmth with me."

Beam hated to disrupt his calm composure, "look Forth, I really can't understand what's happening to you but this is not normal. You can't refuse other doctor's help when they are offering it to you. What if I would have been in the operating room and couldn't come immediately? You would have lost a lot of blood and make your situation more complicated." He closed his eyes and prayed for patience when he saw that Forth wasn't even listening to him.

"Don't get too comfortable, I will send a nurse to change you into another gown. Your bedsheets also need changing."

Forth opened his eyes and regarded him with clarity, "I don't want others to tend to me, only you have the right to touch me."

"But I'm busy Forth, I have many patients waiting for me downstairs."

"I don't care about others, you're supposed to be mine only."

"Don't be ridiculous, it's my job and I'm good at it. As for you, I want you to stop acting like a child, I don't know what's wrong with you, you were never like this before. You were always the most reasonable among all of us."

Forth looked at him and replied in a cold voice, "what's wrong with me? I don't know myself, I only know that you made me like this and now you have to take responsibility. I loathe the idea of you being far away from me and I feel suffocated without you here. You think I'm delusional?" He gave a strangled laugh, "I'm completely sane Beam, and my thoughts are perfectly clear. Ever since I heard your confessions, I feel this strange thing on my heart and the most ridiculous part of it is I am the least bit taken aback, in fact I feel like attaching myself to you. We have known each other for so long yet I feel like it's only now I'm getting to know the real you.
