The forest, it was dark and mysterious in the black sky of the night. Holding secrets in the wind that whispered through the dry, crinkled leaves. Through the naked bodies of bark holding nothing in their branches as they hung high and low, scattered throughout the forest. Many sounds illuminating from the place as the shadows chased one another. Though the simplest most quiet noise could be heard. As though a pin being dropped on a hard wood floor caused the loudest noice in the world. This is the place that I view as my home, my sanctuary. As not the physical place where I lay my head at night or spend family game nights playing cards within. But a place I feel at my best self, allowing tranquility to flow through my veins. This was the forest in winter of course and knowing by the moons position in the sky, and the fact the orange hue of the sun line could already be seen in the far off distance. Lighting the bottom of houses windows in a orange hue. Spring was approaching. Which would turn this barren land to the simple eye looking at it. To a place of pure life and joy.

The comparison of the forest in winter and spring were the complete polar opposites. In spring it was a place that many visited to go on walks, runs or jogs. People came to see the scenery of the large trees and their plentlytude of vegetation and all the flowers. In all of the colours of the rainbow and more. Pink, blue, yellow, orange and green, so so so much green.  And even the select few who just came to the forest to capture its beauty in photographs. These people would never know of what really lurked behind the rustling of the large leaf filled bushes. What they assumed to be a rabbit, a squirrel, or a fox. Was something way more magical. Maybe even scary, for the things in the unknown that humans do not know and do not understand scare them in ways you almost can not describe. This feeling of wanting nothing more than to know what something really is and the terror of knowing the true answer. The confusing concept of the human mind.

"Adia! Wait up!!" Shouted Alden as he chased after his little sister into the vegetation filled woods. Closely followed by Andrew. His best friend. Adia stopped by the river to catch her breath. She was breathing heavily. Alden caught up with her and grabbed onto her shoulders to stop himself from running. Both Adia and Alden ended up falling into the river. They landed with a splash. Alden came up from under the water shacking his head like a wet dog. While Adia flipped her hair out of the water and out of her face. Splashing water onto Alden's face as she did so. They both looked at each other and laughed.
Andrew was Standing by the rivers edge with his hands on his hips smiling. "You coming in Andy!" Shouted Alden. "Naw your alright mate. I'd rather stay dry" replied Andrew. Not noticing that Adia had gotten out of the water and was creeping up behind him. She pushed Andrew into the water. Alden let out a very loud laugh and smacked the water with his hand. "You are so in for it" said Andrew as he whipped his eyes. Adia cannon balled into the water causing the water to splash and go all over Alden and Andrew again. They all laughed. They splashed each other with water and laughed till their checks hurt.
Alden was the first to get out of the water. He took his sopping wet shirt off and ringed it then hit it off Andrew as he got out the water. It made a loud smacking sound. Adia bursts out laughing, and fell back under the water. "That's what you get for laughing" said Andrew "as for you". Andrew grabbed Alden's shirt off him and threw it to the ground. He picked up a large stick. Alden began to run and Andrew chased after him though the forest.

Adia was ringing her hair out when Alden and Andrew came back with smiles on their faces and laughing. Alden put his arm over Andrews and gave him a pat on the back, before Adia threw him his shirt. Alden was Adia's big brother. So she looked up to him a lot. He had been her best friend all of her life. But also a person who would look out for her. They had been so close and Alden was the only one there for her on those cold night after their mum left to comfort her while she was crying. He was pretty much a older boy version of her. The same dirty brown hair and piercing green eyes. And the exact same child like Cheeky personality. "Well today's been good" said Alden as he pulled his shirt back over his head to put it on. Then smiled at Adia. "Yes it has been" sighed Adia with a smile.

"KIDS! GET HOME NOW!" Armando's loud scary voice echoed through the forest. "ALDEN WHERE ARE YOU!" He Shouted. "Over here dad!" Called Alden. Armando came up with a straight cold face. He looked angry. "Home now!" He said sternly before turning to walk back to the house. "Better go then" said Alden. All of them walked back to the house. Armando was walking quickly and they had to keep up with him. Adia was almost running. Her dad was clearly upset and angry about something. When he was angry he was scary. Although Adia knew he was a good person. They got the the front door of the house and Armando quickly stopped. "Right!" He said "you boys come with me. Adia go to your room" Armando said seriously. They all done what they were told. It was better not to question him. Especially because he was the pack leader. They walked into a large room where a fire was on on the far side of the room. Armando's best friend Adam stood by the table. He looked up as they walked in. "Everything alright?" Asked Adam. "Yeah, what the hell is going on!" Shouted Alden. "Watch your tone boy!" Said Armando looking and Alden with a serious face. The room filled with silence and the only sound was the crackling of the fire burning. They all stood still as Armando walked slowly over to the couch and sat down. Andrew stood with his hands clasped in front of him. Alden with his arms folded and Adam had one arm balancing on the table. No one said anything for what felt like hours. "There back" said Armando finally breaking the silence. "Who?" Asked Adam. "There back and they want us all dead" said Armando. Everyone's eyes widened. They were all filled with shock. "What we gonna do?" Said Alden. "I don't know" said Armando standing up. "Your sister can't know about any of this". Alden knew that his dad was being serious and that he couldn't say a word to Adia. He would always talk to her about everything. But he couldn't talk to her about this. He knew that for a fact. "Ok" replied Alden.
