Rose went to the retirement home everyday, except some Tuesdays. It was supposed to be her day off, but Maria often ordered her to work even on that day.
Jack on the other hand - he drew. He drew all the time; imagined things at home, stuff and phenomenon he saw or heard about on the street. He sell much, but he earned even less. His drawings were indeed appreciated by ordinary people. But the fact was that he was a simple young man from the lower class. It was almost impossible for him to reach out to them who would like to pay properly for an artwork. With Rose's salary they were able to pay the bill. With the money Jack earned they were able to buy food. And if they were lucky, they had a little over after that.

Rose walked the stairs to the apartment. Finally home, she thought. After a long working week, she would eventually have her day off tomorrow. She unlocked the door and when she opened it she saw someone...
"Gosh, you scared me Jack" she said, breathing out.
He stand, leaning against the wall next to the door. He took a step forward, laying his hands on Rose's sides of her face and kissed her.
"Guess what?" he said.
"What?" Rose said, giving him a tired but genuine smile.
"I sold a quite expensive drawing today, and, I found a place we just have to visit".
He stared into her eyes.
"Like, immediately?" she asked.
"Yes" he said, kissing her once again and than leading her out.

The place he mentioned was a bar, nearly one kilometre from the apartment. Rose first thought that it must have been a forgotten one, because it was placed in an alley on a street she didn't knew existed. But when she came inside, she was proved wrong. It wasn't a big pub, but it was filled with people.
Rose looked at Jack with a smile, and he smiled back. Than he went to the bar and ordered to beers.
"Come and sit" he said and pointed at a bar stool next to him.

The beer tasted so good. Rose realised that she must have been quite stressed right before, because now she felt way much more relaxed and she felt an eagerness inside her she hadn't felt in a while. She put the empty glass on the table and grabbed Jack by the arm.
"Let's dance!" she said.

They danced eagerly. They laugh, they clapped their hands to the music and sang. They mostly danced together. But every now and than, they danced by themselves, and sometime they danced with others. Rose saw a young woman at the bar, sitting all alone. She walked there and ordered one more beer.
"Would you like something?" she asked the woman.
"Oh, thank you, but no. That would be too much to ask for". The young woman had brown hair in a loose bun that once must have been sitting very properly, just like Rose's.
"Two beer, please" Rose ordered. She had got a little extra as well today, and the alcohol made her a little extra generous it seemed.
"How kind of you, why so generous?" the woman asked.
"Sometimes we don't think, we just do. Because than it feels like we're living a carefree life. Isn't that what we all are striving for after all?" Rose said.
"Yes indeed" the woman said. "Cheers!"
They drunk.
"Are you here alone?" Rose asked.
"No, my fiancé is here as well. He is sitting over there playing poker, in the grey shirt" she said pointing somewhere beside the mass of people.
Rose just saw a bunch of moving colours and something that she supposed was faces. But than she saw a couple of men in grey shirts beside the mass sitting around a table. They seemed to be chatting with some other men, Jack included.
"Is he the one to the left or the right?" Rose asked.
The woman stared at her. "Theres only one. How drunk are you?".
Rose stared back.
Than they burst into a huge laugh.
"I'm Kathelyn by the way" the woman said after a while.
"I'm Rose" Rose replied. "Let's dance!".

They laughed and danced eagerly. The music and the alcohol made it all feel so unreal, but it was amazing. When Kathelyn laughed, Rose laughed and the other way around. It was amazing having a girlfriend. It was a long ago since Rose had had one. Or had she ever had one before? She couldn't remember at this point.

He suddenly appeared in front of her. "Jack!" she shouted, falling into his arms, trying to kiss him deeply. But he didn't let her. He held her in a firmly grip in front of her.
"You're very drunk Rose" he said with a bit worried but still humble voice.
"And your very sexy" she whispered loudly enough for him to hear. She leaned forward to kiss him, and now he didn't refuse.
