Waking up with Rose's arms embracing him was a gift. Her hair was scattered behind her, away from both of them. Her face was turned against his chest and her arms were embracing his waist. He wondered what he had done to deserve this, and to deserve her in his life.
Things had change so drastically for both of them. Things had turned out so well after Titanic. Too well, he knew, if he would be honest with himself. Because how could something be so good after such a disaster?
The truth is that he couldn't think about what happened. To him, it felt like it did never happen. Just the thought of thinking about what happened the hours before and after Titanic sunk was painful. To think about the actual hours of the disaster was completely impossible. Every time a thought or an outstanding thing triggered a thought about the disaster, everything went blank. He couldn't even force himself to think about it. He went to stone immediately. He felt nothing when that happened. It was like he didn't existed. He had find himself staring at nothing sometimes, not remembering what had just happened or for how long he had been staring.
"Everything's okey?" Rose asked, looking up at him with squinting eyes, due to the light from the window.
"Yeah" he said, looking back.
