The Beginning

The streets are alive with sounds and movements. The new culture radiates from every aspect of your surroundings. You smile as you take in the new scenery. You've traveled to many places, but the excitement never dulled. "Aubie, we made it," you whisper to your backpack.

"Finally!" a soft voice replies. Aubie, your kwami that looks like a dog, pops her head out of your backpack. "I'm not a fan of hiding in your bag forever."

"Aubie! Someone is going to see you!" you say as you look around at the crowd and gently push her head down. You notice that no one has even glanced at you. They are all caught up in their own matters. You sigh with relief and take another look around at your surroundings. You've been searching for answers for so long, and this place, Paris, could hold everything you've yearned for.

You take out your phone to look at the time. "Ok, I have 30 minutes before I need to go to the hotel. Let's go exploring, Aubie." you say aloud. You barely make it to the next street when you hear a loud cackle. Confused, you look up to see a strange girl jumping from roof to roof. "Aubie, what or who was that?" you ask as she is already popping her head out of your backpack.

"I don't know, but I sense a strange energy from whatever that was," she answers you.

"Let's investigate!" you exclaim as you run behind a bunch of bushes. "Aubie, wraps on!" you say once you're out of sight. Your metal bracelet on your wrist glows softly and Aubie is absorbed by it. A bright light covers you, and fabric wraps around your body like a mummy, cutting off at the neck. The bright light begins to fade while Egyptian-like clothing appears on your body. You shake your head lightly as ears form and sway with you. A long tail forms with a jewel tip. You run a hand across your eyes as a black mask appears. You extend your arm out as the bracelet removes itself. It glows brighter as it straightens and lengthens into a gold, Egyptian staff. You snatch it from the air as you twirl with the last light disappearing. All transformed, you jump on top of the nearest roof and head off to investigate.
