Nick's POV

They got into Nick's car Gideon have him the directions to the bank that he was going to be getting a loan from. When they parked in front of Oasis Savings Gideon noticeably started fidgeting with his fingers.

"Hey don't worry Gid, you got this. You already have a successful business and your just expanding. You're already got your paw in the door and now you just gotta add another floor." Nick put his paw on Gideon's shoulder.

"T-t-thanks Nick, it's just this is the first time ah've done anything big like this. W-when ah started my bakery back home, it was all from the ground up and ah did it all myself. Ah never needed to do something this formal ya know even though this is just a meeting to get to know about me and my business ah'm still a little nervous."

He's done all of this by himself honestly, where I lied and conned to get what I had before I joined the ZPD. I know from personal experience that not all mammals are as opened minded a Judy was the first time we worked together. Some mammals can be so cruel I hope Gideon knows this about mammals in Zootopia

"Hey Gideon I don't want to make you anymore nervous but, mammals in Zootopia aren't all as opened minded as they may seem especially when in comes to stereotypes. Many think all foxes are shifty and liars, I've have my fair share of experiences the first one being when I was only a kit when I tried to join the Junior Ranger Scouts." Nick remembered his first glimpse into the cruelty that can come out of other mammals.

Gideon's POV

"To tell ya the truth ah already know that, ah use to... a-ah use be one of those foxes Nick ah'm s-sure Judy told ya about what ah was like when ah was a kit."

Another memory of his many therapy sessions with Ms. Lyra came to his mind.
"So Gideon you know why you've been coming here once a week after school don't you?" Lyra asked

Gideon just rolled his eyes at her and grumble the answer, "Cause ah beat up that four eyed cub who though he could talk his way outa his beatin"

The cougar nodded "I see, well as the school has told me you have been taking this bear cub's lunch for a week now."

"Yeah and?" Gideon grunted

"Well I want to know what your side of the story is I've already talked with Oren about it so now I want to hear your view"

"Ya're just a school counselor ya don't know anything ya just doin this to get paid ya don't really care."  Gideon shrugging on the couch which he had decided to sit in after the first time he came in.

"Well your not wrong I am employed by the school but I am not a counselor, therapist but close enough. It just means I actually care and want to help," She smiles and nodded at him.

Gideon finally rolled his eyes and began to tell her what had been happening. "Yeah ok whatever, so what ah don't what to have to make my lunch everyday so ah take a cubs lunch so what?"

"Well I think there's more to it then you just being lazy Gideon some teachers believe that your home life maybe contributing to your behavior."

Gideon remember when his pa found out he had gotten into trouble at school he had yelled for hours at him and had thrown and beat him around a few times during his drunken rage.

"My time out of school is my own business non of y'res." Gideon slouched down on the couch and glared at the floor.

The truth was that Gideon wasn't telling her was the main reason why he stole and bullied the bear cub Oren. His father had changed after his mother had died in a car accident, a few months before school had started. Ever since the this father got the news he had been drinking to numb the loss. And it's been that was ever since, his father a drunken mess and easy to angered which usually ended in shouting and violence.

Suddenly he felt a paw on top of his own he quickly snapped his head up and pulled his paw away and crossed his arms glaring at the mountain lion in front of him

"Gideon I don't want to push you into talking about something your not fully ready to discuss. But it will be to help you and-" Lyra was suddenly interrupted

"Ah don't need your help!" He stood up from his seat in the couch.

"Ah can handle myself ah don't need anyone and ah don't want anyone's help!" He yelled he stood up and went to the door and grabbed the handle to leave. But then he felt his chest tighten and his eyes started to water.

Why the hell am ah cryin now a-ah don't need anyone's pity! He thought furiously.

Gideon all of the sudden started to cry, streams of tears falling down his face his fur becoming cold and wet. He slammed himself into the wall beside him trying desperately to make himself pull himself together to stop being a whining, quivering kit. He was just proving his shitty ass father right! He sank to the floor and buried his head in his knees to hide his unstoppable sobbing.

Gideon continued to tell Nick about his childhood.

"Ah use to take my anger and fear out on others, ah didn't know what having friends was like. Well at least not any real friends that is." Gideon stopped himself before he had told Nick about his abusive father and decided it'd be best to talk about the it later. He should be proud about his new business and enjoy these last hour with Nick. Someone who Gideon never would have thought he would have meet, someone he felt safe with, someone who comforted him, who made him feel confident in who he was.
