I walked into the air-conditioned classroom, and about 25 to 35 students sat at their desks, ready for class. Crap. I was late.
"Miss Vertes?" said my English teacher, Mr. Langton, "You are late because?"
Everyone in the class turned around in their seats to stare at me. I could feel myself blushing. "Um, I-" I tried to explain, but he cut me off. "Detention, after school, two hours."
I sighed and lowered my head. I started walking toward his desk at the front of the classroom. Mr. Langton took out a piece of yellow paper attached to a pink piece of paper from the top drawer and scribbled something, then gave the yellow one to me. "I'm disappointed in you, Kendall." He said, then shooed me to my desk.
I banged down my binder and books on top of the wooden desk, then sighed again. Good job, Kendall, I thought to myself.
••••••••••••••
School went by so slow. I could barely keep awake in all of my classes. I probably flunked my history test, lunch was a bore sitting alone in the corner, because Maddie was absent, and Zara, with her stupid little followers, probably made fun of me 10 times. So far, today had sucked. Like most of my other school days. But now, it was going to be even worse, because of stupid, stupid detention.
I clutched my binder in my arms, my phone tucked away in my pocket. I walked through the doorway of room 14, Mr. Langton's room. So far, there was no one there, except for the teacher. My shoes clicked across the floor as I headed to a desk at the front of the room. Mr. Langton looked up from his work and nodded.
"Sit in the desk in front of mine," he said, "and wait for the other kids."
I nodded and put my stuff onto the desk. I scooted back the chair, which made a loud squeaking noise. "Sorry," I whispered. I sat down, put my chin in the palm of my hand, and waited.
I felt air brush past me a few minutes later as someone else walked to the front of the room. I didn't bother to look to see who it was, so I kept my eyes looking at the desk. The chair next to mine was moved back, and someone sat in it. Someone who had black hair, beautiful hazel eyes, a gorgeous smile....
"Crap." I muttered under my breath, to make sure he didn't hear me. By he, I mean Ryan. Yeah, the guy Zara didn't want me to talk to. How did we both end up getting detention on the same day? Karma, I guess.
Ryan looked at me and a smile tugged at the edge of his mouth. "Hey," he said softly.
"Mr. Gart! No talking!" Mr. Langton said.
Ryan nodded and turned back to look at me, a full on smile on his face. He mouthed "Hi." I looked away from him, trying to not smile back. His smile faded away, and a look of confusion waved across his face, but he shook it off. Ryan lifted his eyebrows as to say "well?". I forced myself to look at the desk.
I'm back! So sorry that I've been away for so long! I've been the busiest person lately! Okay so quick update. I won't be starting Got A Secret this month, but I will be keeping Famous up. I won't be updating it for a while though, because I need to work on this. Thanks for sticking with me, to the people who actually did! Love you guys.
