Since I updated this book last with the attraction pyramid, this book jumped from 1.5k to 1.8k and that made my week better. Thank you (and I know I say this a lot), I'm so amazed on how this book is now almost to 2k reads!!
First off, let me get something clear. About 99% of the time that a person transitions into the opposite gender, it is not because one just suddenly wants to become another gender like MtF or FtM. It is because of Gender Dysphoria.
Google describes Gender dysphoria as: Gender dysphoria (GD) is the distress a person experiences as a result of the sex and gender they were assigned at birth. In this case, the assigned sex and gender do not match the person's gender identity, and the person is transgender.
I have quite a few friends who have gender dysphoria and have begun to go through gender reassignment actions such as binding and changing their physical appearance.
Second part is "coming out" and acceptance. Someone can stay "in the closet" for as long as they please, whether it be for fear of being discriminated against and disowned by friends and family or just because they want to find the right time. It is very important for one to be accepted as the gender they are whether it be agender, male, female or other. As humans we seek acceptance in our everyday lives, we thrive off of it.
Assumably the last part of becoming FtM or MtF is gender reassignment surgery and taking either hormones or testosterone. If you know anyone who has gender dysphoria, or has even come out as transgender, please accept them for who they are. We are all humans, treat eachother the same.
A side note for the previous paragraph, Not all Trans individuals get reconstructive surgery! Some people find it distressing to get the surgery and find it better to just not have it.
