Jo woke up, sore all over. I guess having a baby has that effect on you. When she rolled over, she didn't see Alex. Her eyebrows knit together.
Alex walked over to her, holding Hazel who had been crying in his arms "Did she wake you up?" She asked, bouncing her up and down.
She shook her head "The pain did." She crawled out of bed to grab her pain meds.
"It's that bad?" He asked, getting a nod in return. He sighed "It'll get better soon."
Jo put a pill in her mouth then downed it with water. She took an extra sip before returning to bed. She pulled the sheets over herself "When do you have work?" She asked.
"Not for another two days." He got cut off by Hazels cooing.
Jo smirked. The pain was- and is worth it. She got Hazel in return. "I go back in six months, right?" She asked, putting her arm under her pillow and head.
"Yeah," Alex nodded, walking over and sitting on the bed. "You know it's supposed to be a year?" He mentioned.
"I know, but I don't want to miss any more of my residency. Plus, she's going to the daycare in the hospital, so i'll be able to see her whenever." She explained. "Can I hold her before I go back to sleep?" She asked, holding her arms out. He agreed and laid her in her arms. She spent a few minutes, holding and cuddling her baby girl before falling asleep.
Their afternoon was filled with crying, diaper changing, and feeding. Once they finally got her calm, Jo sat on the couch with her. She made faces, giving Hazel the cutest confused
face to ever exist. Jo opened and closed her mouth, making herself look like a fish."Real cute, Jo." Alex teased.
She rolled her eyes "Oh, shut up. I'm trying to get her to smile."
"She won't do that until she's two months," He put a chip in his mouth, sitting down next to her.
She sighed, laying Hazel down on her chest. "That's true." She looked down at Hazel "She's so beautiful." She gushed.
Alex put his hand on his baby's back "She really is. She looks just like you." He wrapped an arm around her.
