I woke up about two hours later, since I had to be at work at six. It was five now, so I had plenty of time to get ready. I shower for quite a while and by the time I get out I only have twenty-five minutes to be at Starbucks. I hurry and brush my hair then pull it up into a mandatory neat bun, which took about ten minutes cause my hair kept poking out at random places, so I got frustrated and restarted a few times. I decided to wear a navy blue tee and jeans, who's legs were too long. I rolled up the ends and threw on some socks and black converse. I grabbed my phone and keys then ran out the door.
I wasn't late, thankfully, so I checked in and went to the back room to put on my apron, who's pockets I slid my phone and into (I don't trust the lockers). When I walked out I noticed we had a bit of a line and there was another co worker with me behind the counter.
He turned and smiled at me, looking rather sleepy as well, "Mornin'."
I walked up and stood next to him, examining the orders on the receipts. I poured some dark coffee into a to go cup then put two little cups of creamer in it, then started up the blender as I handed the cup to my co worker.
"You're pretty fast for a first-timer," we winks. I scoff but I don't think he heard it over the noise of the blender.
The line diminished quickly and we were left with some spare time on our hands until more customers arrived.
"I'm Henry," he holds out his hand, and I take it.
"Cameron."
"Well, nice to meet you, Cameron. I must ask..." He leans on his elbow, which he propped up on the counter and knocks over a small stack of empty cups, then re arranges them and flashes a grin.
I laugh, "Smooth moves."
"Oh, plenty more where that came from m'lady." I roll my eyes.
My phone starts to ring and I widen my eyes, Henry narrows his then flips his hand, smiling.
"Sneaky. But go ahead and take it, I'll deal with any customers, kay?"
He puts a hand up to the side of his face and whispers, "I don't trust the lockers, either."
I smile and mouth thank you, then go in the back room to answer the call.
It's Jordan.
He's the last person I want to talk to right now, and I'm not sure how I'm going to confront him about Kelly, but I guess it has to happen sooner or later. Too bad it's going to be on the phone.
I answer and before I can say anything I am pelted with his explanation.
"Cameron," He breathes.
"I've been trying to get a hold of you forever."
"It's six in the morning and I am at work. You should be sleeping. What do you want." I say, trying to hide the flood of emotions I'm getting. I try to sound as bored as I possibly can.
"Cameron, oh God, let me explain please."
When I don't answer he goes on anyways.
"She was so fast, my God, I didn't even see it coming. I didn't know she had her phone out either. I had no clue that she took a picture. I promptly fired her afterwords. No more Kelly, I swear."
I sigh shakily.
"I'm at work right now." I hang up and go back out to Henry and the counter.
