Game day was officially in 24 hours.
I didn't think I would be so nervous, but the anxiety was kicking in. Practices have been back-to-back at this point—we had practices in the morning from nine o'clock to noon followed by a brief two hour break before we went back to practicing from two o'clock to five o'clock. The heavy drills and strenuous activities were doing numbers on my body physically and it seemed like as of lately I had been spending a lot more time in the ice bath. Unfortunately, that hadn't been doing what I needed and I had resorted to going back to Annie. Regardless of her slightly messy behavior, she was damn good at her job.
Tanisha had been at my place a lot longer than the two days she had promised. I was beginning to think there was more to the story than her just needing to stay with me so she could meet a client, but I had been hesitating asking her. With her new found residency at my place, Annie and I's session had to be at her place. Despite all the time I've known her, these last couple of days had been the first time I had ever been to her house. She had always insisted coming to mine and I was never quite sure why.
She lived in a nice apartment just on the outskirts of Brooklyn. Her apartment complex was in such a quiet community that it was kind of strange that Annie chose to stay here. I thought Annie would live in this lively community with her neighbors being all the IG models she hung out with, but that was the complete opposite.
I wasn't complaining. I could come and go all I wanted without worrying about who was nearby.
"You still hanging with Rochelle?" Annie questioned. The question came out of nowhere. We had been chilling in silent for the last couple of hours. Things weren't awkward with Annie on my behalf, but based on her question I guess she thought something was going on with Rochelle and I. I had went to The Vault last night for the first time in a hot minute and Annie had been there again. She looked like she had wanted to say something to me, but the minute Rochelle popped up Annie went away. From what I've gathered, the two of them weren't really fond of each other. I didn't know the whole story, but since I was here, why not find out more about it.
"I mean we be chilling. Just like you and I be chilling." I spoke. I could hear Annie scoff from behind me, her hands caressing my shoulders. I winced at the slight pain I was feeling as she moved across a sore spot that had developed during practice. "She doesn't like me. I don't do nothing to her but..." Her voice trailed on. I sat up, laying back against the back of the couch. Annie looked at me confused, but her eyes seemed to wander everywhere but my face. "Why you acting like that?" I questioned Annie. She rolled her eyes at me once again and shook her head. "Look, I'm going to be real bold right now. I know you and Rochelle are fucking, and that's cool and all I'm not mad about that. But the last time anything happened between us you dipped and ghosted me for a hot minute. So what's the difference between me and her?" Annie questioned, placing a hand on her hip. I was surprised at the amount of sassiness and lowkey anger Annie was presenting right now. I didn't know she was tripping like that.
