With less than a week left until I flew out to Alabama, my dorm room was an absolute mess. Not only was I having to pack for my trip, but I also had to start packing my things for the move. By the time I came back from Alabama, I wouldn't have ample amount of time to start packing from scratch, so of course, I decided to start early. It was a Thursday afternoon and campus had been pretty boring since school ended. Since there was really nobody on campus, the school decided against doing any fun activities on the Quad, and for the past week or so, it seemed like all the off campus parties were on hold as well.
So when Samir called me out of the bloom inviting me out to the grand opening of some club in downtown DC, I quickly obliged his offer. Alisha and I were going to go for the simple fact that we lacked anything to do really. Despite the fact that the party was on a Thursday evening, the turn out was supposed to be large turn out, primarily because the main invites were sent out to college students.
Now, I was stuck with the decision on finding what to wear.
A good seventy-five percent of my clothes were already packed into boxes or suitcases. That left me with the annoying task of going through them. I didn't even have a simple concept in my head, so I was literally going to have to start from scratch. With an annoyed huff, I tiredly looked at the mess in front of me.
"We barely get to talk to each other and when we do you wanna be pouting 'cause you can't find something to wear?" Colby had an annoyed expression on his face as he looked into the camera. I rolled my eyes at him, ignoring his complaints. To be quite honest, his FaceTime request was supposed to be ignored, but at the last minute I decided to pick up. Sure, I loved talking to Colby, but right now I was going through a crisis and his trivial needs needed to be placed on hold right now.
"I don't have all day to choose something, Colby. It's lowkey a day party and if I get there too late what's the point of showing up?" I complained. Colby didn't respond, probably uninterested in what he considered 'typical Sage overreactions.'
"Do you even need to go?" Colby questioned.
"To be honest, no. But I haven't been out in what seems like forever, and I haven't seen Samir in like, twice as long, so I feel like I need to at least show my face and kill two birds with one stone." I admitted. Colby shrugged his shoulder, I suppose in his way of agreement. I wasn't lying though; I hadn't seen Samir in so long. He had went back to his hometown in Maryland for the holidays and according to his Snapchat, he had spent a majority of his time hanging out with his large group of friends from high school. He was in DC for the time being, however, and it wouldn't hurt to hang out with him. Our relationship, not going to lie, was still a bit rocky after the whole Thanksgiving fiasco, however, he has forgiven me, and my father who has slowly been able to play his role in his life. Seeing Samir today was definitely something I felt as if I needed to do considering the fact that we've been separated for so long.
Eventually, Colby had to hang up his phone to go attend to 'basketball needs' whatever that meant. That left me with the alone time I needed to figure out what I was going to wear to this party...
