Chapter 16 - Schäfer

(Y/N) makes her way up the stairs, jumping across the gap. She keeps going up and around and head to the door of the first tower to the bridge. She places her hands on the handles, trying to either push or pull them open. "It's locked. There's no way we're getting through here."

Nate looks to the side, glancing back at her and up at the doors. "Okay, I'll try to find another way around - open it from the other side. You sit tight."

Frowning, she gives one last shove before nodding, turning to face him. "Just try to be subtle. We don't want to attract any unnecessary attention."

"Subtle... right, got it." He repeats and she raises an eyebrow, looking away and he begins to climb up.

(Y/N) sits down, watching him climb up and around the wall. As he jumps onto a wooden platform, part of it breaks, falling next to her.

"Oi, watch it!" (Y/N) whisper-yells. Nate disappears from sight and she sighs, swinging her legs over the edge and staring down into the abyss.

There's a few minutes of silence before gunfire rings out. (Y/N) abruptly stands, looking around with her gun pointed in front.

More gunfire ensues and she presses herself against the door, trying to listen for for Nate. A crash and the building begins to crumble and she jumps back, clearing her way from the door just in time. Another bang and the doors fall open.

"So much for subtle!" (Y/N) shouts, running in and immediately rolling her eyes.

"Tell it to the guy with the RPG." Nate replies, pulling her behind cover.

He makes use of the sniper lying around and takes out the man with the RPG, allowing them to make their way along the bridge, taking out anyone that comes across them.

They move into the second tower. 

"Shit, we got snipers!" Nate warns, pointing to the snipers in the buildings opposite them.

"Get me up that ladder!" (Y/N) instructs and he runs under it, cupping his hand. She places her foot in his hand and he pushes her up, letting her grab it.

"Watch yourself up there." He warns, and she climbs up. Kicking down the ladder, she quickly hides straight after. Nate begins to make his way to the top and (Y/N) sits behind a wall, taking out the few soldiers. "We gotta cross that bridge."

"We can't go out there now, those snipers will cut us to pieces." He states.

"There's a sniper rifle up top." (Y/N) remembers and he nods, already going. She waits below as RPG's flies over her head and her heart quickens, waiting to hear Nate's victory.

"(Y/N) watch out, over the bridge!"

She looks across to see more soldiers making their way along. Nate snipes from above and she helps below, and slowly they begin to get rid of them.

"That's the last of them!" Nate shouts and he jumps down.

"Let's get across." (Y/N) says and he lets her cross the wooden beam to the start of the bridge.

"There they are." She notices Lazarevic and Schäfer in a doorway of the tower across the bridge. 

Nate takes out his binoculars and huffs in annoyance. "Ugh, that son of a bitch. We don't have much time -" (Y/N) ignores his words and takes off in a run across the bridge.

"Okay, don't wait that's cool." He yells after her. "Come on!" She calls back.

"Right behind ya!" He replies and begins to follow. She turns to see where he is and as she does, the bridge behind him begins to collapse, making him fall and grab the end.
