Chapter 9

To say things were hectic would be an understatement. Things were insane.

People were rushing around with the newfound news, some shouting orders to others. Whereas I stayed by Louis' calm side the entire time everyone else was frantic.

Louis had a map placed on the large table in front of him with a red x marking the place the man told him he found the rogues headquarters at. It was about 20 miles east of our original castle.

To think that they were that close for who knows how long just waiting for the opportune moment scares me.

Louis called over two of his best spies. "Alright, lads. I need you guys to get information. I need to know how many fighters and weapons they have. I also need to know what they know about us. Like, do they know that your queen has powers? What is their attack plan? Get this information as soon as possible and report straight back to me. Don't trust anyone else with it."

They nodded without apprehension and swiftly left the room to begin their task immediately. I grasped ahold of Louis' hand, intertwining our fingers together.

"Everything will be alright, babe."

I nodded as he squeezed my hand lightly in assurance. "When do you think we will found out?"

He pondered over this for a moment while staring at the red x. "They are my best spies. Maybe a week."

I nodded in understanding while looking at his strong profile. His strong jaw line, the stubble littering his cheeks, his stunning blue eyes that shined with anger. Every gorgeous feature I took in and relished in the fact that it was all mike and no one else's.

"Why would they attack now? They have obviously been there for a while. What would cause them to do all of this now?" Louis mumbled to himself and the thought had also crossed my mind.

I shook off the results of my mind and squeezed his hand. Louis suddenly turned to face me and abruptly took my face into his large hands causing a gasp to escape past my lips.

"I will never let anything hurt you. You will be protected. You will be okay."

I took a deep breath and fell into his arms. I knew that he needed the comfort of having me in his arms more than I did at that moment. I wrapped my small arms around his strong torso as his enveloped my tiny frame.

His lips placed a gentle kiss to the top of my head before mumbling incoherently into my hair. My ear thumped with the steady beat of his heart pressed against it. His warm hands ran up and down my back causing goosebumps to form all over and a shiver to run through my entirety.

I pulled away from him, but only slightly. I placed a sweet, loving kiss to his nose after standing on my tip toes to reach.

"I love you."

A smile broke out onto his face. "I love you."

A smile pulled at my lips as he placed his lips into a reassuring kiss for the both of us. I pulled away slowly out of breath and stared deeply into his eyes.

A shadow in the doorway caught sight in my peripheral vision. I turned my head to the side and gasped.

"Zayn?"
