Chapter 10

Zayn was slouched against the doorway. His eyes were bloodshot and there were large bags underneath them. You could smell the booze from a mile away coming from him.

A couple people rushed towards him once I called his name and held him up. They brought him over to a chair and he slouched against it. His face was emotionless and he never spoke a word. He stared off into nowhere.

I walked slowly towards him and placed a gentle hand to his shoulder. "Zayn, are you alright?" A small gasp left my lips when his eyes immediately darted to mine.

"No, I am not alright. You didn't bring her back to me. You didn't save her!"

His hand shot out to my neck. His fingers wrapped around it and he began to squeeze. He lifted me into the air as I struggled to breath my fingers leaving marks on his arm as they clawed.

I tried everything to get him to release me as he continued to scream and tears cascaded down his cheeks as a few began to fall from lack of oxygen and fear of dying.

"You didn't save her!" He repeated over and over again.

"Zayn! Let her go!" Louis bellowed in his alpha tone causing Zayn's wolf to immediately obey and I was dropped to the floor.

I gasped for air, coughing. My hand wrapped lightly around neck and I winced in soreness.

Louis fell to my side with concern etching his features. "Are you okay?"

I swallowed and slowed my breathing down before nodding. Louis helped me to stand before placing me instantly behind his back as Zayn stood in front of us.

"I did everything I could, Zayn. I'm sorry."

"You didn't save her! You didn't do everything you could or she would still be here!"

Louis placed a hand on his shoulder holding Zayn in place. "We are not the enemy. The rogues are the ones that killed her, not us."

Zayn took a step back, his breathing increasing rapidly and I knew that he was about to shift. I also knew that we were too close to him to go unscathed. I grabbed Louis' arm and pulled him back, far enough for us not to get hurt when Zayn shifted.

Fur covered his skin and he got down on all fours allowing his inner creature to come out. His eyes pierced through mine before he bolted out the door. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Are you sure you're alright?" Louis turned to me with his brow furrowed in worry.

I lightly smiled and nodded. His fingers gently ran over my neck on what I assume was now a bruised area. It would heal very soon due to my ability.

"I can't believe he did that."

"I can't exactly blame him. I hope he understands now though that we are not the enemies."
