The week after New Year's, everything went back to normal; DJ went back to college, the kids went back to school, Danny went to work, Joey went to his recently acquired job, and Jesse and I stayed home.

I sat at the breakfast table, looking at job adds. "I gotta find a job; this is driving me bananas!.... Ooh, a banana sounds good right about now." I got up and grabbed a banana. As I sat back down, Jesse walked in.

"Hey, babe."

"Hi."

"Whatcha doin'?" He poured himself some coffee.

"Looking in the want adds. I can't stand being jobless!"

'Relax. Something'll come along." Jesse sat down next to me. "I'm not worried."

"You're also not looking."

"I've got the Smash Club, why should I worry? Why should I care?"

"Because we're basically freeloaders."

"No, we're family. Joey's a freeloader."

I smiled. "Still, I'd feel better if one of us actually had a job; namely me."

"Whatever you want. What can you do?"

"Journalism's all I really know how to do. I could get a minimum wage paying job and some restaurant, or mall, or shoe place.... Do we have any sardines?"

"Nope. We polished 'em off last night."

"Mmm."

"Why don't you go do something relaxing, like shopping, while I tyoe up your resume."

"You don't know what I've done."

"You hosted Wake Up, San Fransisco for eight years; you hosted A.M. Omaha for two years; before that, you were a newscaster, and before that, you were merely a lowly intern."

"Huh. You do know what I've done."

"Mm-hmm. Now go enjoy a day of relaxation."

"Well, okay. Thanks, sweetie."

"No problemo." We gave each other a quick kiss, and I headed off.

While driving to the spa, I laughed. "I can only imagine what Jesse's putting on my resume..."
