Ariel's POV:
Today is the day! My sweet Melody will be attending her cotillion before her Crowning in three days. Although she is only 17, she is in line next to be crowned Queen of Atlantica since my father passed away two months ago. Melody seems excited, but I am not optimistic it will be an exciting job. There are many things to worry about going into her reign.

Melody's POV:
I am delighted to rule the sea and Atlantica. I know what you are all thinking it's not going to be all that fun. But I have amazing things planned, and I cannot wait to set them in motion and make my mother and father proud it will be amazing. I will be just like King Ben and go against the normal! I will not stand for the same old treatments, and if that means I have to set free, the people of the isle then done.
Shit, I'm late for the cotillion rehearsal!! I grab my bag after my long daydream of how I will rule and run down the halls and out of the building. I look at my watch to see that I am 45 minutes late. Oh, they are soon going to kill me. I run to the royal chairs room and see my parents, King Ben, his girlfriend Mal, and his family. My parents scolded me for being late and running. Ben gives me a sympathetic look, and Mal smirks at me, trying to hold back laughter.

"I am so sorry, Mom and Dad, Belle and Beast, and Ben. I was distracted, and I know it's not princess-like to run, but I would have been even later if I-"

"Melody, it's okay, no need to worry. We aren't in any rush." Ben cut off my ramblings, and I nod and curtsy in front of him and his parents.

"Melody, curtsy for Mal and say hello; don't be rude!" My mother snapped

"Right, so sorry," I curtsy again "Sorry, Lady Mal" I roll my eyes, and my mom rubs her temples.

"Hello, again, Princess Melody," Mal says, sending me a sly smirk on her face.

"Shall we get started?" Beast asked, and we nodded. Belle and my mom showed me where I would stand and how to walk and everything boring about cotillions. After about 2 hours, we were finally done.

Ben and Mal went over what was important and how to say it. Mal is friendly and intimidating.

"Mal, could I talk to you for a minute? I have a few questions for you." I ask her

"Of course, while we are talking, Ben and I would like to invite you to dinner tonight." She smiles, and we walk off to somewhere quiet.

"So I have been thinking when I am queen, I want there to be change in the kingdoms just like Ben. But I don't know how to make a change without knowing what to change, and I wondered if you would secretly take me to the Isle."

"I don't know if that is a great idea," she says
"What if I just told you some things."

"Mal, please, I want to know what it is like; I need to know what should be made right."

"Mel-" I cut her off, "I will go with or without you, and I bet it is a lot more dangerous without you to show me the way!" I told her, and she nodded her head

"Okay, fine! But we tell nobody about this, not even Evie. She would kill me if something happened to you or if she knew I went back. Got it?" I squeal and nod my head.

"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!" I squeal again and hug her.

"Lesson 1 no hugging or saying thank you, meet me at the edge of the dock tonight at midnight. We'll leave then." She says, and I let go nodding my head.

"See you tonight for dinner," she says, and we both go our separate ways to our classes—Yay, how to act like a princess 101. Just kidding, that's not a real class off to chemistry. It's only 1 pm, and dinner isn't until 6 pm.

5 hours later

I am getting ready for dinner with King Ben and soon-to-be Queen Mal. Isn't it that odd that the Daughter of Maleficent will be Queen of Auradon? I guess anyone can change no matter how 'evil' they have been deemed to be. Mal is the perfect example.

I wear a beautiful light pink short dress with my hair up in style but a messy bun with gold earrings and a gold watch. Put on my heels and headed for the limo. No surprise there I am late again, oops!

I arrive at Ben's castle, and a guard opens my door for me.

"Thank you, sir!" I curtsy and walk inside confidently. Lumière takes my light coat and points in the direction of dinner. I thank him and walk towards the dining area.

"Hey, so sorry I am late I got-" Mal cuts me off just like earlier.

"Distracted? We know" She laughs, and I sit down, and to my surprise, Evie, Carlos, and Jay are all here. I thought it was just going to be the three of us. I look around, and no one is dressed as fancy as I am. Again oops.

"Shit, I am so overdressed," I mumbled to myself, only to have Evie elbow me in the side.

"Ouch! Evie, what was that for??" She gives me a stern look just like my mother does

"Language Melody, what would your mother say?" I roll my eyes as they guys laugh at Evie scolding me. Soon after, dinner is served she elbows me again. I look down at my hands. At the same time, Jay and Carlos are laughing their asses off at me getting yelled once again by Evie. I glare at them from across the table.

"Whatever, Mom," I mumble.

"That's enough!" Ben yells, and everyone stops and looks at him. His inner beast starting to show.

"Sorry, Ben," I say

"It's fine, let's just eat in peace please!" he sits back down and starts to eat his soup.

Once it's time for dessert, Evie starts to ask questions. "So Melody, what are you going to do first once you are queen?" I glance at Mal and then back at Evie.

"I am going to renovate the Isle. The way the people are treated over, there is not fair. They might be evil, but they shouldn't have to live in poverty. So, I will temporarily put everyone on a new isle until I can make the isle look and feel homier to those who have to live there." She smiles

"that's an awesome idea! Just be careful it's not safe for princesses like you." Jay says, and I take offense to that.

"What's that supposed to mean "princesses like me"?" I ask him, and everyone else goes wide-eyed. "You don't think I could survive on the aisle alone?"

He shakes his head "No, absolutely not."

"Is that a challenge, Jay?" I wink, and he shakes his head no, and I continue, "I bet I can stay on the isle for a week without anything bad happening to me."

"Melody, no!" Ben and Evie shout, standing up while Mal puts her head in her hands.

Jay stands up with a wicked smirk and puts his hand out for me to shake. I stand up, and as I go to shake his hand everything goes black.
