I looked around and saw that it was pitch black. I felt kind of confused within it. I knew I wasn't dead so I wasn't in the void. Then where am I? I cursed my grogginess, I felt sluggish and weak. Why couldn't I wake up like those girls in the books and movies with my breath minty fresh and my hair neatly placed around me? I observed my surroundings, looking around the dark room I couldn't make out much. I tried to remember what happened the day before. It was hard to think when I just woke up. It took me a moment for flashes of last nights events to come rushing to me.
After Adam got me home no one was there. I looked at my grandparent's house to see the extent of the damage. Most of the second story is gone. It looked like the fire started in the kitchen and spread way to quick. I pushed the side door open very slowly so I wouldn't make much noise.
"Why are we sneaking around?"
"Adam!" My hand through up to my face. "Hush!"
"Sorry. Why are we sneaking around?" He said softer.
"I don't know who could be here and I don't want to run into my family." He nodded his head.
"Okay but I'm going first." He pushed me to the side.
"Do you even know where my room is?"
"Uh...No, but you can direct from behind me."
"Come on Adam you don't need to baby me." I pushed the rest of the way in.
"Sarah you don't know if it could be a trap!" He reached for my hand but I was walking to fast for him.
"Who wants to be careful now?" I continued my pace up the stairs, not looking back to see if he was following me. I palmed the bedroom door knowing it would be unlocked. I got the suitcase off the top of my closet and started throwing clothes in it. I stopped then looked around my room.
"Are you almost-" Adam walked in on me sulking.
"What's wrong?" He asked around a mouth full of sandwich.
"I'm sad for some reason." He walked over to me and sat on my bed.
"Care to talk about it?"
"Why is this happening to me? Why do I have to run? What if where I'm headed isn't any better?" Adam took a deep breath and sat down his sandwich.
"More than likely it won't. Be any better I mean. See you have to run. All you've done is run. I can't tell if I'm talking to Aeonian or Sarah but this is your life and your not getting out of it." I finished packing with the help of Adam telling me what I would need more than the other. We crept downstairs, well I crept, Adam galloped down making as much noise as possible.
"Come on! No ones here. Why are you sneaking around?"
"It doesn't hurt to be cautious." I looked back at my childhood home for what I thought was the last time. Thoughts started going through my head as we drove off. Most of them stressful and disturbing. Adam threw a blanket over me noticing me shiver.
"Get some sleep it's going to be a long drive." And now I'm here in this creepy ass room with no light.
I started to get up but was quickly restrained by chains around my neck, arms, legs, and waist. This was insane, I had to get out of this place. I started to struggle to get out of the chains. My breath came out raspy. I started to hyperventilate as I heard footsteps approach the door, my chains rattling must have given me away. Sweat beads started forming on my forehead. My breath was coming out short as my chest heaved up and down in panic. The footsteps were getting closer as tears escaped my eyes. The footsteps stopped at my door. I suddenly felt sick to my stomach. I held the bile down and shut my eyes tightly. My mind tried to come up with ways to make it seem as if I was asleep but the tears streaming down my face would be a dead give away.
