Lucian

He groaned, the taste of blood waking him from his self afflicted curse. The heat from the blood warmed Lucian's body. Wanting more, he called to his vampire to extend his fangs out. He felt skin brush against his mouth. In a sneer, Lucian opened his mouth wide and bit into the flesh. Blood squirted into his mouth like a ripped plum. Soon, he curled his cold fingers around the person's wrist, pressing his mouth harder against their flesh.

Gradually, all his sense's came back to Lucian, one by one. First the taste, then his sense of smell. He knew this familiar aroma. Her scent flooded into his being, filling him as much as her blood. Next was his sense of hearing. He could hear her fast beating heart and soft breathing.

"You have to slow down Lucian or you'll drain her." That voice.

Words seemed to stop Lucian, putting his fangs away. His body was heavy. It took him a minute to gather sense of awareness. Licking the blood at the corner of his lips, Lucian realized who he'd been drinking from. In a broken whisper, Lucian called out. "Zara."

He heard crying and tried to open his eyes. Reminding his body that he was in control, Lucian opened his eyes, catching sight of his dark haired mate. Years, he'd robbed himself of being with her, not knowing once he woke again, she'd still be around. He looked over finding both his progenies. He wanted to smile and wrap his arms around each of them but couldn't move.

"Help me get him out." It was Rebekah. His centuries long friend and sister through their Sire. Of course it would take her to pull him from under.

They moved fast to lay him on a couch. Zara let his head rest in her lap.

"Set up the blood. I will do the rest." Rebekah grabbed a needle and syringe, sliding it into his veins as she hooked the blood into a pump that would force its way into his bloodstream. "It will take time to regain your strength."

Lucian nodded weakly, unable to hold his eyes open, despite wanting to look at all their faces.

"It is-I never thought I'd see you again." Mona chimed out.

Lucian heard her sniffle and move into someone's arms. He peeked finding Mona in Rebekah's. He also found Paulina standing straight and afraid beside another woman. Soft fingers ran through his hair, pulling his attention from his progeny. Looking up, he found Zara smiling down, with tears in her eyes. "I promised...to see you again. And our child." His eyes widen, now in search of his daughter. Unable to move and search he looked back to Zara for answers. She could see what he wanted to ask. "What's wrong?"

"Right now. We need you to regain your strength. Rest," Zara told him, continuing to brush her fingers through his hair.

Rest.

It was a night when Lucian woke up. He could move his limbs and hold his head up. He heard panicked whispers at the doorway. Bending his arm, Lucian felt pressure from a I.V still in his arm. Blood was pumping into him. He turned off the pump and pulled out the I.V.

Footsteps came quick. "You need that to recover," Rebekah said.

"And I am. Is there any willing humans to feed me?" Lucian wanted to stand and breathe fresh air. But first, he needed to touch the people who mattered. Mona and Paulina stood back in the room. "My girls," he grinned weakly. "Come." In unnatural speed, they moved to him, kneeling before him. Mona nodded and Paulina brought herself forward, hugging him tightly. She wasn't an openly affectionate vampire but after believing he was dead, Lucian could see how she could open up to that. He kissed her forward. "I have been in my dreams."
