Meliodas swung his sword, severing the dragon's head. He had been out here in the forest hunting dragons since noon. He was growing bored and took one of the dragons he killed and skinned it. Dragon meat is really good and he could get Gowther to cook him some since he'd most likely ruin it if he did it himself.
He was putting some of the meat in a bag when one of the Ten Commandments, Zeno, dropped down behind him. "What do you want Zeno," Meliodas asked sourly.
"You are needed at the castle," Zeno informed. "Your brother has been born." Meliodas nodded and flew off. Zeno followed him.
Meliodas landed in on the courtyard. "Show me where he is," Meliodas ordered Zeno. Zeno nodded and took the lead. They walked up to a golden-trimmed door. Zeno stepped to the side as Meliodas walked in.
Inside was a maid holding an infant demon. She froze when she was Meliodas. He reached out his hand, motioning for the baby. She placed the infant in his arms and stood silently, too scared to move.
"What is his name?" Meliodas asked.
"Z-Zeldris, my lord," the maid stuttered.
"...Zeldris, huh... Leave me."
The maid ran out and Meliodas didn't remove his eyes from the boy. Zeldris' eyes opened wide. They were a beautiful shade of emerald. Then, unconsciously, Meliodas deactivated his magic and revealed a pair of eyes mirroring Zeldris'. The two emeralds stared into each other.
Then Zeldris giggled and laughed. His small hand reached for Meliodas' nose. He grasped his nose and smiled widely. Meliodas didn't mind for some reason. Looking at the boy made him feel warm, reminding him of feeling he had forgotten long ago. He smiled slightly and put his finger in Zeldris' tiny hand.
"Hey there, Lil' Zel," Meliodas greeted softly. "I'm Meliodas, your big brother." Zeldris laughed once more. Then realization overcame Meliodas and he immediately reactivated his magic, his aura becoming cold once more. What was he doing? He was supposed to be heartless. Cold. Ruthless. Emotionless.
Zeldris stared at him, confused. Meliodas shook his head and placed the boy in his crib. What was this child doing to him?
