Chapter 7

No one's pov

After Lord Kol spent the day with his daughter, he escorted her and Davina back to their hut to make sure they got there safely before heading home to his castle with a smile on his face but his heart felt hollow as he left the woman he loved and his daughter behind at the hut with a man he didn't like, a man who was able to hold his girl in his arms at night.

Kol didn't like the fact his daughter was living with him, he didn't want Kaleb anywhere near his little girl, he didn't even want him near Davina but he was afraid his daughter would want Kaleb instead of him but he knew he couldn't exactly take Clara, he'd never do that.

Kol felt at ease though knowing she was with her mother and that his girls were looking after each other besides it was only a matter of time before he found a way to get Davina back and have her and Clara move in with him once the castle has been repaired and refurbished.

Lord Kol arrived at his castle and walked through the door seeing Vincent fix up his target range "how'd it go with Davina and your daughter?" Vincent asked "it went rather well. Davina didn't yell at me for avoiding her she was quite understanding and my daughter she's amazing, she's so sweet" Kol replied with a beaming smile "you better hold on to her because they grow up fast and you never know if one day will be the last time you see them alive. Children are precious, they are what makes us better, they give us reason to live and they bring joy into your life" Vincent replied Kol gave him a sad smile knowing he was speaking from his experience of losing his son.

"I'm sorry about your son. I really wish I tried harder to save him" he said placing a hand on his shoulder "it's alright at least you stood up and did something instead of sit in silence and watch" Vincent replied before passing him a sword "right let's practice some sword fighting, it might also come in handy next to your bow and arrow" he said as he grabbed himself a sword.

Kol and Vincent got in position before swinging at each other, both of them duck and move to avoid being cut or stabbed "make sure you're sharp and fast" Vincent instructed and Kol did what he said making sharp and swift movements with his sword while moving quickly to avoid Vincent's sword.  "So I'm guessing I'm going on another raid tonight?" Kol questioned "there's no raid tonight, we have practicing to do as the King is throwing a gathering at his palace in two days and you are obviously going and while you're there I want you to spy on him and the high council, try and see if you can find any dirt on them" Vincent replied Kol grinned "I like the sound of digging up dirt on those bastards. I can't wait for this so called gathering" he replied as he ducked as Vincent swung at him with his sword.

"I also found out something" Vincent said "what is it?" he asked "Kaleb and your girl Davina are going to be there" Vincent replied Kol frowned at this "why are they going?" he asked "they've been invited by the King but from what I heard Marcel Gerard Davina's godfather and Father Kieran had persuaded the King to invite them for what I don't know" Vincent replied "Marcel Gerard, has never interacted with the King. He hates Lucien and Marcel isn't exactly on wealth standards for the King to speak to him" Kol responded Vincent shrugged.

"I don't know but the point is your girl is going to be there and I just wanted to warn you to not be distracted by her no matter how much you may want to talk to her. Your feelings can't get in the way of what we're doing" Vincent replied "it's a bit too late to not have feelings involved Vincent. I'm in way too deep when it comes to Davina and now that she's the mother of my child, those feelings have grown stronger. I can't hide or ignore my feelings" Kol responded Vincent sighed "I'm aware of that but I just want you to keep a down low while you're there. Don't get distracted remember this is part of your mission to clear up this city and to try and take the King and the high council down. Everything you're doing is for the greater good of this entire city so try not to get distracted no matter how hard it may be for you" Vincent replied Kol closed his eyes.

"I'll try my best" he said "if you find yourself struggling not to get distracted then tell yourself you're doing this for her and your little girl" Vincent advised Kol nodded "I won't get distracted" he replied before dropping his sword and grabbing his bow and arrow and shooting the arrow straight at the target with such force it almost knocked over.

Kol had a hard look of concentration on his face as he prepared another arrow and shot at the target practice with as much force as the last causing the target to fall backwards. Kol grinned "watch out King Lucien that will be your head when I'm done with you" he said as he had imagined the target was King Lucien's head, when the time came Kol was going to shoot an arrow through his head.

End of chapter. What did you think? I know the chapter was a little short but trust me it's for good reason as drama will start happening in upcoming chapters. Kol will come face to face with Kaleb in the next chapter and tension will rise between them as sexual tension will rise between Kol and Davina. You will see some little spats between Kol and Kaleb in upcoming chapters. Will Kol get Davina back? The story will take a bloody, sexy and violent turn soon. What will happen next?
