Here's chapter 9 enjoy
The next day...Later that night
No one's pov
Lord Kol was prepared and ready to strike his next raid as he hid behind a crate near the King's palace which he was going to raid with Vincent's help.
Kol was going to steal the King's jewels and gold that he kept hidden below the palace and he was waiting for the right moment to strike.
Kol waited until there was only one remaining guard and as the guard was preparing to shut the gate that kept people from entering the part he wanted to go in.
He pulled out his bow and arrow and shot the guard in the back, instantly killing him and he came out of his hiding spot and entered the palace grounds. He tried his best to remain hidden in the shadows but he was seen by some guards who started yelling which alerted all the other guard so they came running out and came at him with swords and axes but he shot them with an arrow as he ran from them, no matter how many times they tried to stab him or catch him, they couldn't as he was too fast for them and he was killing them as quickly as they appeared and attempted to strike him down.
Kol turned a corner and hid behind a wall just before a few guards appeared. "Hey you!" a guard yelled from across the balcony where Kol was and he silently cursed as more guards appeared on that side and started shooting at him and he shot back at them as he ran to avoid getting hit by one of their arrows.
Just as Kol turned another corner one arrow hit him in the leg causing him to let out a groan "shit" he muttered placing a hand on his wound as he hid behind a wall, closing his eyes as he took a deep breath before opening his eyes again and he took off aiming at any guard who came his way.
Kol finally got to the room below the palace where King Lucien's jewels and some of his gold was kept.
Kol smiled as he spotted Vincent already there and waiting with a trailer that he had nicked from somewhere, Vincent was preparing a horse that he had managed to steal from the King's stables. Kol loaded four massive crates of jewels onto the trailer and chucked a load of bags on it that contained a load of gold inside.
Kol and Vincent grinned to each other as he threw another bag of gold on the trailer before covering the stuff with a huge overthrow blanket and Vincent got on the sitting bit that was behind the horse and Kol walked over to the lever in the corner that opened the door so Vincent could get out and just as the door opened a load of guards stormed the room and Vincent ducked as arrows were aimed at him as he exited the place and Kol shot back at them as quick as they started firing at him and Vincent and he ran and leaped over the dead guards that were in the doorway.
He ran up a flight of stairs as guards ran after him yelling orders, shouting at each other to catch him and kill him but they never caught him.
Kol suddenly reached the top of the balcony and he looked left and right and behind him seeing and hearing guards approaching. He had nowhere to turn but that wasn't going to stop him so he simply grinned as he ran and jumped off the balcony and as he jumped off he twisted his body, pulling up his bow and adding three arrows and he shot the three arrows straight at some guards that were heading his way.
Kol landed on the trailer that Vincent was leading and riding and guards surrounded them but Kol was quick to shoot them all down with his arrows and he and Vincent chuckled as they rode away into the night just as an angry Tristan De Martel, appeared and growled as he arrived to see yet again the aftermath of the thief that has been plaguing the city.
Tristan glanced around at the dead guards "we're gonna need more guards" he muttered angrily clenching his fists as he went to go and tell the King what just happened and he knew he wasn't going to be happy especially when he learns the thief got away with his jewels and some of his gold.
King Lucien loved his jewels and gold more than anything, he'd save his jewels and gold over his wives and his step-brother in a heartbeat.
"WHAT!?" King Lucien roared after Tristan explained to him what happened "the thief has struck again and this time he's taken your loot of jewels and some of your gold" Tristan says in retaliation King Lucien grabbed his glass that contained red wine and chucked it at the wall causing it to smash and red wine splattered on the wall and floor.
"Find him and bring him to me. I don't care whether he's dead or alive I want him to be brought to me now!" He ordered "yes your majesty" Tristan replied all the while Father Kieran was stood there watching since he had been called forward by the King as he wanted to talk to him.
"Put out a bounty on him. Anyone who finds him and either kills him or catches him will be rewarded with gold" King Lucien ordered and Father Kieran frowned "excuse me for butting in but I'm not sure that will work. The people love this thief, they see him as their hero" he said King Lucien and Tristan turned to him with a harsh glare in their eyes.
"The thing about the people is, they're weak and so easy to manipulate. They are desperate for money and so if a bounty is put out where they could gain money from it, they'll do it because those pathetic people will do anything for money and a bit of riches" the King replied with a cocky smirk.
The King was wrong about the people of New Orleans though, they weren't easy to manipulate and while they did want money, they would never do something as low as turn in the hero who had down nothing but stand up and show them a new light.
He gave them something to believe in, he gave them hope so they would never give away something they believed in and had hope in just for the sake of money.
Tristan left to go and sort out the bounty and the King turned to Father Kieran and roughly grabbed him by the shoulders.
"I want you to warn everybody, tell them if they want to live and be rich then they'll hand in the thief if they come across him. Nobody will hide him from me, I will find him and when that happens, I'm going to make an example of him and kill him in front of his precious worshipers as a remainder that I cannot be beaten or destroyed. I am powerful and I will not be humiliated or taken down by some worthless thief! Now go and spread the word of my warning and don't speak a word of what I just said and don't tell anyone of what you heard here today because if you do, I will have you removed from the church and I will have your family disgraced not that there are many of your family around anymore. It's just you and your niece one of my lovely wives" King Lucien said in a threatening tone that sent shivers down Father Kierans back.
Father Kieran nodded before quickly exiting the throne room in a hurry to get away from the King who terrified him but that didn't mean he was going to keep quiet, he knew the King had to be stopped and he knew one day soon he would meet his demise as it was already being planned by a secret society that consisted of Davina Claire, him, Bonnie St.John, Marcel Gerard, Aiden and Josh Rosza.
