'1 New Message'

"Huh? What's this? An unknown number?" Wang Yunfan asked to himself in the comfort of his home. He had just came back from an award ceremony for the best newcomer author and to his own surprise, he managed to return with a golden award in his hands, so literally nothing could spoil his mood this evening. As for the message, it was common to get these nowadays; either death threats or words of congratulations from strangers who 'just so happen to find his number'. Either way, it is still quite creepy.

Wang Yunfan sat down on his old, comfy chair. He was still in a suit, but it was comfortable nonetheless. He didn't even bother to take off his blazer since he was so enamored on the award in his hands.

'Mom, I did it! I finally did it...'

Wang Yunfan smiled to himself, all giddy. Well anyone would be somewhat happy when receiving an award, especially on something like writing where there are many participants. Wang Yunfan has been writing for a long time and all his hard work finally paid off in his new novel, which granted him the award for the best fantasy fiction in the newcomer section. However, he did not always write well and many of his works go unpublished. While he feels like it was a shame to not publish them, he'd soon learn that it might be a good thing as some of which he had made years ago had finally resurfaced.

'2 New Messages'

His phone let out a small 'ding' sound as it lit up through the cloth of his pocket. With a small sigh, he placed the award on the coffee table and took off his coat before opening the message. Usually, he'd just delete them, but today he felt somewhat compelled to look at it.

'Heyooo A-fan, Congrats on the award~ I read your novel ah, it's really good, but not as good as ours from back then xixixi'

'Remember this? Link à IcyClouds.com'

Wang Yunfan raised his brow. The person seemed to speak to him in such a friendly manner, as if they had been friends for years. Moreover, he felt like the link's name sounded very familiar.

At first, he was afraid that it was some kind of virus, but after repeating the name several times on his head, he was sure that he had been on this site before. So in the end, his thumb met the link on the screen. Immediately it took him to an old looking website.

'ICY CLOUDS'

The characters of the website name shone annoyingly bright in neon blue and comic sans even, which was highly displeasing to the eye, but upon seeing this Wang Yunfan's memories suddenly opened..

The bad editing, the tasteless colours, the annoying song that plays whenever it's opened, and..

'The Immortal Demon Path, by BingBing and Shuiyun'

Wang Yunfan internally screamed as his face went red from all the embarrassing memories gushing in. This was not just any website. This was his and his best friends' joint website, Icy Clouds where they used to write together and incidentally, their most 'popular' novel was that of an unfinished stallion novel, The Immortal Demon Path where he had played a villain with his own name, ah!

With a shaky thumb, both excited and embarrassed, Wang Yunfan pressed on one of the links to a chapter. As he read it, he didn't know whether to laugh or cry. The writing was absolutely terrible and the mixing of two styles of writing made it even worse! He really remembered that it was super cool back in the days when he was still around 12-13, but in the eyes of a real author, this was certainly horrible. And to think he was the main writer for this!

He skimmed through a few chapters, which unlocked most of his memories when making this. It was originally just a stupid plot idea by his best friend, Xu YanBing. She wasn't the very best writer, but she was certainly a great artist. They had been very close friends for six years before he moved away. They kept contact for about a year before he gave the story for her to continue and by the looks of it, the novel wasn't even finished!
