Cave Pearl beasts were beasts classified based on their unique traits of dark coated cave dwellers with phosphorescent attributes. Examples of these beasts were the current Cave Pearl Tarantula, which has dark hairs and produce luminescent spider silk. Other commonly found Cave Pearl beasts were Cave Pearl Leeches which produce pearl like eggs. Those leeches are very protective of their single eggs and have the capability to bite a grown man's hand off if one would try to touch.
And many of those leeches are currently feeding on the carcass of the giant Cave Pearl Tarantula.
It was as if Lady Luck had descended and given blessings upon the terrified Wang Yunfan. The supposed giant Cave Pearl Tarantula that he had used as a wall to hide had seemingly died some time ago and now covered sparsely with leeches. The four pairs of black orbs that were staring at the petrified Fang Shizi had long since clouded. With no shine in its eyes or movement after being poked around by the peak master, it was easily confirmed dead.
That's one less tarantula to worry about,
Wang Yunfan thought, mentally sighing at his predicament. Right now what's important was rescuing Jing Zhilian before he permanently becomes spider chow. Spying from behind the spider wall, he could roughly guess where the kid was. Among the bright and illuminated spheres of silk was a rather oddly shaped silk ball, which was rather dull and darker than the rest. It had also helped to spot the kid when his sword was literally sticking out of the ball.
So the easy step one, finding Jing Zhilian had been completed. The next was to rescue and escape. Wang Yunfan originally wanted to rely on the teleportation talisman, but he didn't bring any since they were all taken by his disciples. He even forgot to take Jing Zhilian's talisman left atop the cliff—in which he mentally blamed the system for.
He could draw a teleportation array, but that would be dangerous. If he had accidentally transported one of these creatures, not only would he be labeled a problem cultivator by the sect, but death and injury will definitely follow; which won't look good on his minimum of 60% living cast member stats.
Wang Yunfan turned to Fang Shizi, holding his shoulder to sober the teen up from the extreme fear. "Fang Shizi. Do you still have your teleportation talisman with you?" he asked.
The teen shook his head.
"I dropped mine on top of the cliff..."
Wang Yunfan's face lightened up a little.
"Oh? That was yours? Then that means your shidi would still have his, correct?"
Wang Yunfan turned his head towards the dull ball of semi-luminescent silk. If so, then it'd be as easy as taking him from the ball, getting away as far as he could, and then transport the two elsewhere so he could handle this situation himself. There were many restrictions and arrays that he had to fix after all and he wouldn't be able to do that with a possibly heavily injured child and an easily frightened one.
Fang Zhizi placed his fingers together, looking down.
"About that... I saw Jing-Shidi drop his talisman..."
Seeing his timid attitude, Wang Yunfan's eye twitched.
"... Where?"
"There..." The teen pointed at a smaller Cave Pearl Tarantula, sleeping on the far left of the cave with a thin, rectangular bar with ancient writings on the beast's back, which bright colour stuck out like a sore thumb on its black coat.
On earth or inside the novel, Wang Yunfan has painfully accepted that Lady Luck just liked to fuck around with him. Just when things seem like it was good, something extremely cumbersome just happens to come up. He thought he'd have somewhat of an upper hand as someone powerful in this world of cultivators and someone who wrote half of this world, but it turns out that it's just nearly as the same as his own fate back on earth; pathetically unfortunate.
