Leeyah
"Leeeeyah!!" I heard Dad yell from down stairs.
"What?!" I yelled back with a slight attitude.
What kind of parents leave their seventeen year old daughter home alone for the entire weekend in a new city? I don't get it. Anything could have happened to me and they wouldn't even know.
"You didn't hear me calling you?" He asked.
"Yeah I heard you.."
"Well why didn't you answer?"
"I did, you just didn't hear me.."
"Your mom wants you.." He said after kissing his teeth.
I took my time getting out of my bed to see what she wanted.
"How was your first day?' She said in her thick spanish accent.
"It was cool until yall left me out in the cold!" I rolled my eyes.
"I'm sorry Miji, but we had some business to handle. How'd you get home from school anyways?" She gave me her full attention.
"A friend from school.." I was purposely withheld information just to piss them off a little.
"Leeyah, we need names! Nobody's supposed to know where we live at, you know that!" My dad came in yelling behind me.
"Like I said before, a friend.." I rolled my eyes and tried to walk out but he grabbed my arm.
"Names Leeyah!" He proclaimed firmly.
"His name is Chris, you happy now?" I jerked my arm away then went to my room.
"This conversation isn't over with!" I heard him yelled from down the hall. Little does he know, the convo was over before it even started. Why does it matter anyways? We're thousands of miles away from the bullshit. I came here to start over not to deal with this again.

After my dad left for work, moms let me use car to go to the mall. This weather was nothing to play with. It was freezing and I was dressed for summer.
When I got in the mall, mostly everything was completely foreign to me. I didn't know where it started or ended. I started to just leave and say fuck it but I thought against it.
Soon as I was about to walk off, I heard someone calling my name. When I turned around, it was no one other than Chris.
"Wassup ma, you need help? You look lost.."
"Nah, I think I can figure it out but thanks anyways.." I started to walk away but had no idea where I was going. When I turned back around, Chris was leaning against a pole grinning.
"Whatcha waiting for? You don't need help right?" He said matter of factly.
"Sure don't!" I walked into the first clothing store I saw. The stuff they wore was a little bit too stuffy for my taste but I went with the flow. I picked out some shirts and scarves I liked, paid for it then left.
