Leeyah
Tired wasn't the word to describe how I was feeling; more like drained. My parents were gone again at some event in Atlanta. I don't know and I don't care.
Just when I was getting comfortable in bed, my phone started to ring. I didn't plan on answering it but maybe it was important.
"Hello?" I asked trying to sound less tired but I guess the caller heard it in my voice.
"Aye I'm sorry to wake you, but can we talk?" I paused for a few seconds then looked at the clock. It read 12:36. What the hell could we have to talk about at this time of morning?
"Uh sure, I'll buzz you in.." I dashed to my bathroom to wash my face and make myself look like something. When the cold water splashed across my face, I was awake now. I went back into my room and pressed the numbers on the keypad to unlock the gate.
A few minutes later, the doorbell rung. I jogged down the stairs and answered it.
"You alright?" I asked soon as he walked in.
"I don't even know to tell you the truth.." He signed. "Can we sit down somewhere?"
"Uh yeah sure.." I lead him to the sofa in the living room. "Chris I'm sorry for flipping out on you like that earlier. I shouldn't have did that. I was completely outta line.."
"It's cool ma.." He leaned forward. "That's actually what I came to talk about.."
"What about it?" I inquired.
"She told me she was pregnant.." He let out a deep breath.
"Was? She lost it? Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that!"
"No noo, she still is pregnant.."
"Oh wow.." I mumbled. "And you came all the way over here to tell me that?"
"I didn't know where else to go.." He put his head in his hands. "I just started driving and ended up here.." I blushed a little bit when he said that.
"So what you gonna do?"
"I don't know. I told her she can do whatever she wanna do.."
"Why would you tell her that Chris?! She's still a person with feelings. That isn't cool at all.."
"I was scared!" He looked up at me. "What the hell am I gonna do with a kid? I'm still a kid my damn self!"
"I know but what can you do if she plans on keeping it? You need to take care of your responsibilities Chris.."
"I know, but..."
"No more buts!" I giggled some. "You gotta do what you gotta do. Finish school, get a job, and whatever comes after that, we'll handle it as it comes.."
"We?" He asked confused.
"We're friends right? Friends don't let friends fail, point blank! You fall and I'll be there to pick you up.." He smiled then hugged me.
