Hoseok grew up poor. There was nothing special about him. He wasn't born into the underground and he wasn't coaxed into it. He didn't join for the monetary gain. He didn't join for a sense of family. He joined the local gang of Gwangju in order to eat. Though regardless as to why he joined, Hoseok was required to do some disturbing things. He obviously had to earn his keep.
Hoseok lay in wait on the top of one of the tallest buildings in the city. The sun was setting, lucky for him there was a night vision scope on the assault rifle before him. The boy peered through his scope for the tenth time in the last minute. His target was supposed to be here. Hoseok tapped the watch on his wrist, maybe it was off. He sighed deeply and checker his scope again. There! He saw him. The man who had been bumming off all the coke supply. Hoseok positioned himself and took a deep breath; he held it as he brought his finger to the trigger. A nerve calming count to three in his head and he pulled the trigger with the slow release of breath.
The man's body dropped to the ground and passersby panicked. Looking everywhere for a gunman. Hoseok calmly collected his things and made his way from his vantage point. Sirens sounded in the distance, but Hoseok wasn't too worried about it. By the time they discovered where the bullet had come from there would be no evidence of Hoseok ever being there.
Hoseok made his way back to his small, dingy apartment. It wasn't much, but it definitely kept him off the streets. Hoseok made his way to the small bathroom and looked in the mirror pulling the mask from his face. He pushed his hair out of his face and examined himself in the mirror. He was better than this. He was better than this small ass gang that only had him as a hit man. He deserved more than this.
A knock on his door caused Hobi, as he was known to the rest of his gang, to jump. He pulled his mask back over his face and let his hair cover the rest. Arming himself with a concealed handgun he made his way to the door. He opened the door to reveal a broad-shouldered man. The man's face was also covered.
"Who-" Hobi was cut off by the mysterious man.
"Hobi, correct? The best shot in all of Gwangju?" Hobi nodded but watched the man warily, "I have a job for you. However, it's permanent. You'd have to come to Seoul with me. My partners and I are looking for talent just like yours."
"That sounds like you need me to do-"
"You won't just be a hitman. You'll be a leader. All of us share the title of 'Boss'," the broad-shouldered man continued, "You'll also have the opportunity to pursue a daylight job. Something you've really wanted to do ever since you were a kid. Suga, for example, is a music producer, me an actor, RM a CEO."
Hoseok looked over at the lines of albums he had. All of them music to dance to. He could pursue dancing if he followed this mystery man.
"How do I know that I can trust you?" Hoseok asked. His voice quiet.
"I'll reveal myself to you," he answered, "Much like you. My counterparts and I don't show our faces to those in the underground outside of our circle." Hobi didn't say a word. The man pulled his dark sunglasses off and pulled his mask down around his chin. Hoseok was stunned and moved. It would be hard to reveal yourself to a stranger. Hobi pulled him into the apartment by his arm and started packing up his belongings on the spot.
It was late at night in the practice room of the dance studio. Hoseok was the only one in the building. His face uncovered it was almost always uncovered during the day. There was no reason for it to be as no one from the other world would recognize him. The song he was dancing to was one by Eun-Kyung. A pretty big deal in the media. She worked at the same studio as him and Yoongi. Hoseok groaned in frustration as he was unable to execute a move perfectly. He turned when he heard a giggle from the door.
"Here," Hae-won, a female dancer from the same studio, spoke from the doorway, " Try it this way." She walked over and guided Hoseok's body with her hands. Hoseok's face was bright red. To say he had a crush on Hae-won was a complete understatement. He thought she was the most beautiful woman in the world. She was a princess and deserved to be treated like one. He was determined to keep her safe no matter what.
The sun was setting. The golden sunlight filtering through the window of the studio. Hoseok and his fiancee remain in the studio dancing to a song written by Yoongi and Eun-Kyung and performed by the latter. Hae-won's hands ran the length of Hoseok's body while he expertly rolled his body. Hobi's eyes flicked to the mirror and he caught a glimpse of the ring on Hae-won's left hand. It was fit for what she was to him, a princess.
The music died out and the two of them went to their water bottles without hesitation. Hae-won checked her phone meticulously for news about their wedding. For some reason, all seven girls wanted to have them together. Hoseok supposed that it was better that all their fiancees liked each other.
Hoseok smiled slyly before moving behind his beautiful princess and ghosting kisses on her exposed skin. He felt goosebumps rise and smiled triumphantly. He still got a rise out of her after these few years of being together. She turned her head to the side and captured his lips with her. Their kiss was passionate but sweet. It almost made Hoseok forget about all the blood on his hands.
"We have to get home," Hae-won spoke quietly as she pulled back, "Namjoon is thinking about cooking."
"Dear God, please let there still be a house to go home to," Hoseok chuckled as the picked up their bags and left the studio.
