Samuel came down the stairs in a rush, looking like a blur of midnight, in his purple pajamas. He was wanting to eat all the cookies his sister had made. Sam had always made the best cookies; she revamped their mother's chocolate chip cookie recipe.

"Chocolate chip cookies, here I come!" Samuel said, sliding into the kitchen. He grabbed three cookies from the cookie plate and shoved them into his mouth.

Sam giggled, looking at her brother chowing down on the cookies like crazy. "Remember, we have one more person coming over to the house tonight. I want to have enough cookies for her, too!"

Pomegranate looked up to Samuel, trying to hold in her laughs. Samuel had always been so appealing to her. With his looks, and his charming, but goofy personality, she couldn't resist. With her being an outgoing party girl, she thought there could be no else as perfect for her as Samuel was. However, she was not ready to let the blue-haired stud know exactly how she felt.

"Sorry," Samuel said, dropping cookie crumbs onto the floor.

Sam looked at her brother with a slightly angry, but more amused smile. "Mom won't stand for crumbs on the floor, and neither will I."

She got up and grabbed the kitchen broom, quickly sweeping the crumbs into the dustpan.

"I got it," Pomegranate said, pushing down the pedal that opened the garbage bin.

"Thanks," Sam smiled, showing her cat teeth. She always looked so sweet when she smiled, but not everyone was open to it.

"You're welcome," Pomegranate said, as Sam spilled the cookie crumbs into the garbage bin. She was a sloppy cleaner, but it didn't matter to her. As long as the mess was cleaned up, she knew her mother would be happy.

While the girls had been cleaning up, Samuel was attempting a balancing act of cookies on his head. Pomegranate looked at Samuel with amazement.

"Wow, you have balancing talent," She said, staring at the cookies on Samuel's head.

"Thanks, I know" Samuel said proudly.

Sam looked at her older brother with disappointment. "C'mon, big brother," she said with a frown. "Now those cookies are tainted with your gross hair."

"Jokes on you," Samuel said. "My hair is 100% percent cleeeeeaaan..."

Pomegranate looked at her best friend and her crush jokingly argue. It was silly to her. She laughed. "I love how silly you two are," she said, hugging Sam and Samuel.

"Dad always said I was hilarious," Samuel said with pride, looking down at the short, magenta-haired girl.

Pomegranate blushed even more, looking Samuel in the eyes.

"Thank you, Pommie," Sam said, hugging her best friend back, gentler this time.

Pomegranate let go, and took the cookies from her best friend's hands. "I'll take care of the mess this time," she said, with a slight pitch to her voice.

Samuel hugged Pomegranate, and her whole face became as red as the pajamas she wore. "Y'know, I like you," Samuel said with a bright smile.

"Y-you do?" Pomegranate asked him.

"Indeed, I do," Samuel said, patting Pomegranate's head. "There's something I've been wanting to tell you for a while, but I've never really had the nerve to do it."

Sam looked from her best friend to her brother. "Are you two in lo-," she was cut off by the loud ringing of the doorbell.

"Looks like someone is here!" Samuel said, turning his head to face the direction the ring of the doorbell had come from. It almost seemed like he had completely forgotten the subject at hand.
