Chapter 5 - The Wait

I have been flying up to the top of the wall for these three days and have been recognizing some of my superiors.

They are nice. But I always prefer the shortest sentences I could offer to reply their hospitality.

Good thing is, I am almost fully recovered. I have been doing my best to get back on it as soon as possible. Even, every night is like hell. I couldn't think straight.

Maybe inside and outside the wall are just same. Stressing. I keep thinking about them who leave.

After a moment.

Aaah.. they are coming. Someone is shouting to open the gate.

I am at the bar closest to the gate. I have spending most of my time here ordering water.

Here he comes. Oh my god, what happened? He... his face...

I cannot explain it. Too painful to see. I am glad to his coming home. But seeing him like that, it's hurtful.

Commander Erwin keeps looking down. I stand 10 meters away from him. I wish he would look at me.

I could hear the stupid and ungrateful comments from the people. But I can't bother. I won't.

He isn't going to see me. I try not to look sad over what is happening. I try to put on straight face.

Until we are side by side, he finally looks at me for a second. Then looking down again.

It's heart breaking.

Time Skipped

I am having dinner with the others, what I know is, they just had a meeting with the commander and the captains.

Mikasa, Armin, Eren, Jean and Me. Sitting together.

I try to ask them "Sasha, Connie and the others?" I ask them without any preparation to my own mental. I didn't see one of them earlier.

They look at each other, and that moment. I look down to my soup. So they died huh?

"They are not here, they are with Captain Mike Squad" Armin answers me.

Oh thank goodness.

Levi Side

Levi, Hange and the other superiors sitting quiet far from the new recruits table.

Hange "Who is that? Next to them? Shouldn't we..?" Before she could continue. "Tch. Oi. Hange" Levi motioning her to silent. So she would not spoil anything from the meeting.

"Oh, that girl... you know, the princess" Lucas half whispering. Both Hange and Levi baffle. "Eeekh... royal?" Hange squeaking. Levi seems uninterested but actually curious.

"Not that Hange, Her with Erwin" Lucas counters her. It catches Levi attention, He knits his eyebrows looking towards me without me noticing him.

"Oh my. What do I miss?" Hange is very excited right now.

"Some people saw Erwin carries her to her room" Lucas carefully answers her.

Levi cannot believe what he just heard. He holds his cup tighter. Meanwhile "You got to be lying" Hange slack-jawed. She smiles and suddenly looking down while still smiling. Different smile, sad one. Everyone should be aware, there will only be screams and blood in the Survey Corps.
