Free Verse: With the Rain

"I like to walk in the rain, because that way no one can see me crying."

The crystal tears fall like a soft rain onto the paisley pillowcase

Thundering down, pouring over the red and yellow designs

A sob like muted thunder spreads through the unbroken melody of tears,

And with it comes rain heavier than ever

This person, left on her own,

Abandoned by the world, ignored by society

Is broken because of sadness and shattered hope

Yet it seems like there's nothing you can do,

So you just walk on, forgetting that they even existed

And still, their tears fall with the pouring rain
