Always Find You

Chapter 25 - "Back to Work"

  "I can't believe you just left the hospital!" Chat shouts to Marinette while fencing Hawk Moth with his staff, "You almost died!"

Marinette switches her shield to her other hand and throws it like a frisbee to her partner so he can block another hit, "You were in trouble. What was I supposed to do?!"

Chat slides underneath Hawk Moth's legs, coming out behind him, and kicks him in the behind making him stumble, "I dunno. I'd have been okay with dying as long as you were okay."
She walks over to him, helping him up with her good arm, "You know I couldn't let that happen."

Adrien stares into his lady's blue eyes, suddenly realizing just how much he means to someone else, "Yeah. Paris would've been screwed if Hawk Moth got both of our Miraculouses..."

Marinette slowly takes her shield back and puts her hand beneath the cut on his cheek, "That's not what I mean."

"Hey!" Gabriel yells from behind them, "I'm still here!"

Both of them roll their eyes in sync.
"Back to work." Chat says.

Carapace goes low and Chat goes high, trying to take the villain down without killing him. Or, at least Adrien tries not to kill him, Marinette's intentions seem less pleasant and more bent on vengeance.

She goes for his staff, but he brings it up just in time to strike under her chin, sending her to the floor and causing stars to appear in her vision. Meanwhile, Chat slams Hawk Moth into the wall, his forearm against his neck. Adrien notices for the first time how tall he's gotten compared to his father.

"Listen to me," He says through gritted teeth, "This is your last chance. You need to stop, or face the consequences."

Marinette groans in the background.

"I have no interest in changing, boy. And you don't have the power to stop me."

"I..." Adrien hesitates, "I don't need power. In fact, I think you would give up if I simply took my transformation off." He knows he's taking a huge risk, but his father isn't evil, and he would never hurt his civilian self.

"Chat Noir, don't you dare!" Marinette struggles to sit up, her ears ringing. Her partner can obviously hear her, but he ignores her.

"I'll take you up on that deal." Says Hawk Moth with a grin on his face.

Chat takes his arm away from the man's neck and looks down at his clawed hand, the green paw on his ring still glowing. He takes a deep breath.

"Plagg," He says quietly, "Claws in."

His suit disappears starting from his feet.

"Chat!!" Marinette yells.

Adrien suddenly feels a sharp pain in his chest as soon as his armor is gone. He looks down and sees a knife protruding from his breast. His father's hand attached to it.

The man meets his eyes, an obvious look of fear and regret on his face.
"Adrien." He breaths.
