When I got out of the locker room, they had already started picking teams for dodge ball. I went over and sat by the wall like I always do. No one ever picks me to be on their team. Justin came over to where I was sitting and said,” Come on.” He had his hand out and everyone was watching in shock. I was in shock. I grabbed his hand and he pulled me to my feet. We walked over to where everyone was standing. He turned around and said,” You can be on my team.”

“You don’t mind?” I asked not truly convinced.

“Of course not, we’re friends, remember?” everyone started to gasp and whispered to each other.

“Yep, I’d love to play.” He smiled and finished picking his team.

We started the second game and I stayed in the back. I didn’t really know how to play so I watched everyone else from the back. Abby called my name. She was in the upper half of the gym walking with Dezz and Sadie. They waved at me to come up and walk with them. I smiled and was about to leave my spot when Justin came up.

“Why aren’t you playing?”

“I don’t really like this game and no one wants to be on a team with me.”

“I do.”

“Why are you being so nice to me all of a sudden?”

“What do you mean?”

“We have been in the same class since first grade and now you have the guts to talk to me?”

“No we haven’t.”

“Yes we have. I always tried to talk to you but you were just like the others. You said that I was a freaky little Goth girl who needs to find my kind.”

“I don’t remember saying that to you.”

“Well you do, whether you remember or not.”

“Look, this is the first time I’ve met you, ok.”

“Whatever, I’m going to walk with my friends.” I started my way up the stairs. I could feel his eyes watching me like a hawk watches it’s pray. I was not going to look back. I was not going to get lost in his eyes like I did this morning. I was up the first half of steps when I looked back to see him. He quickly ran up the stairs. He grabbed my waist, and looked deep into my eyes. He started to lean down to kiss me when the bell rang. He stared at me for a moment and let go of my waist and left just like that. The girls came running down to where I was. They looked almost as shocked as I was.

“Did that really just happen?” I asked them still in a daze.

“Yes.” They all said at once.

“Are you sure I wasn’t dreaming again?”

“I’m pretty sure he was about to kiss you.” Dezz told me.

“I think I’m going to faint.” I started to lean backwards and…

I woke up in the nurse’s office. I don’t remember being here. I tried to sit up but my head was hurting like crap.

“Slow down.” A voice said. I looked where the voice was coming from but everything was blurry. I blinked a few times but it didn’t help.

“It’s ok. You’re going to be just fine.” The voice explained. It was too deep for a girl’s voice so it had to of been a guys. I knew I was going to be ok. I shook my head and blinked trying to see if it would help. No luck there either

“Why are you shaking your head?” a woman asked. It must be the nurse.

“Everything is blurry.”
