“Abby will be Mrs. Capulet, Joe will be Mr. Capulet, Logan will be Mrs. Montague, Ethan will be Mr. Montague, Shawn will be Tybalt, Dezz will be the nurse, Sadie will be the servant for the nurse, now for the two leading roles. Romeo will be played by Tyler and Juliet will be played by Kate. Are there any questions?”

“Mrs. Austin?”

“Yes Kate.”

“I can’t be in this play.”

“Why not?”

“I’m going to be leaving this school in two weeks.”

“I’m sorry to hear that.”

“It’s ok.”

“Now I have to find a new Juliet.”

“Mrs. Austin. I know who could be Juliet.”

“Who is it, Tyler?

“Crystal.”

“What a perfect idea. Crystal, what part did I assign you?”

“Stage manager.”

“Perfect. You are now Juliet my dear. We don’t really need a stage manager.”

“I…guess not.”

“Good. I want all the other actors and actresses to practice your lines over there. You and Tyler practice in the hallway. It should be much quieter out there.”

“Ok.” Tyler grabbed my hand and pulled me into the hallway.

“Are you ok?” he asked.

“No. You tried to pull something in front of all of my friends. What kind of person does that?”

“I’m sorry.”

“You should be. People don’t just do...” He pulled me and kissed me right there in the hallway. It was kind of magical. His lips were soft and for some reason, there was a spark. Like when lovers kiss, there is a spark that tells them they are right for each other. That’s what I felt. My entire body just relaxed and I could feel my heart start to race. He stopped kissing me and looked at me.

“Was that amazing or what?” he asked.

“It was…ok”

“You didn’t feel the spark?”

“I didn’t want to say anything.”

“So you did?”

“Of course, I would have to have no felling not to feel it.”

“Would u like another one?” He said as he came up and grabbed my hips.

“What do you think?” I leaned in and kissed him.

The door that connects the hallway to the auditorium swung open. Tyler and I quickly let go of each other to see Abby looking at us with shock. I grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the door.

“You two make such a cute couple!” she yelled.

“Be quiet Abby. We’re not a couple. We were just practicing the balcony scene.”

“TYLER AND CRYSTAL SITTING IN A TREE! K-I-S-S-I-N-G! FIRST COMES LOVE, THEN COMES MARRIAG, THEN COMES A BABY IN A…”

“SHUT UP!!!!!!!!!” I put my hand over her mouth. “For the last time, Tyler and I are NOT together. Mrs. Austin said to be practicing, and we are, nothing more and nothing less.” I took my hand off her mouth.

“If you say so...”

“Why did you come out here?” Tyler asked.

“She says it’s time to practice on the stage.”
