Chapter 43: Jason's POV

I hear soft snores next to me as I'm driving. I look over to see Jo Elma sound asleep. We're on the interstate heading back home. I make a stop in Virginia to get some gas. It's 6:30 pm. I decide to get Jo Elma and I a hotel room for the night and set back off in the morning. I go into the gas station and pay for gas and a couple snacks and a mountain dew to share. I head back out, put everything in the car, and start to pump the gas into the car. I paid for $40 in gas. It should last us till we get home. I grab a blanket from the back seat and put it over my babygirl. She looks so subtle. So innocent. So beautiful in every way. I get in the car and shut my door. I buckle my seatbelt and drive to a nearby hotel. I put the car in park, unbuckle, get out, grab Jo Elma's sleeping figure bridal style while locking the car and go check in for a one night stay. The man at the register gives us a room on the second floor. I thank him and I go to the elevator. I press the 2nd floor button and we head up. As soon as the elevator stops, I get out to find our room. I find it easily and unlock the door. I go in, shut the door behind me and go to lay the love of my life in the bed. She stretches and rolls over. I smile as I go back to the elevator and to the car to grab our stuff. I get our stuff out of the car and race back upstairs to find her still asleep. I cover her up and crawl in next to her. I think about home. I'll be glad to be heading there tomorrow. I look at the clock and it's 7 pm. I hear Jo Elma stir and I look at her. She rolls over to face me and rubs her eyes. She opens them and looks around and she looks at me and smiles. I smile back at her as she cuddles next to me. I sigh in content as she traces shapes along my chest. She breaks the silence.

"Hey, baby, I'm hungry!" she says with a smile.

"Hang on I got a few snacks. Here you go, babygirl!" I say as I hand her a chicken wrap.

She smiles and takes it gently out of my hands. She unwraps the wrapper and starts eating. She looks up at me with a twinkle in her eyes. A twinkle of happiness. She's a foodie so of course I bought snacks. She eats it and she hands the wrapper to me and I throw it in the trash bin next to me. We cuddle and decide to watch Netflix together. We settled on watching "Forensic Files". We both love that show.

"Oh shit she's dead as a doornail!" she pipes up suddenly.

I chuckle at her comment and her innocence. Just something about her has me hooked. I just wanna hold her here forever. To love her and cherish her like this. She means the world to me. She looks at me and cocks her head.

"Just thinking, babygirl. It's okay! Let's watch the show." I say to her with a small smile.

"Okay I'm just making sure, that's all!" she says to me as she turns back to watch the show.

I watch it with her until around 9 pm and we both get tired. We turn off the show and cuddle up.

"I love you, Jase!" she says to me as she cuddles closer.

"I love you too, babygirl!" I say to her as we both lay in silence until we both fall asleep.
