I woke up to the sound of a dull beeping and a sterile white ceiling. I tried to wipe the sleep out of my eyes, but it was held down by something. Groggily, I turned my head to see a sleeping Alastor holding my hand. His head was lying on the edge of the bed, and he was snoring quietly. I smiled softly, touched that he was here, and squeezed his hand.

Alastor stirred and looked up, then jolted when he met my gaze, "(Y/N)...."

"Alastor." I whispered, throat hoarse. Alastor jumped to his feet, kissing me. I was so happy to see him, but when I tried to sit up, soreness kicked in and my smile vanished.

"The baby..." I murmured, starting to tear up. Alastor shushed me and held my hands in his.

"The baby is okay." He assured, "The doctors were able to save her."  I sighed in relief, leaning back on the thin pillows. Our baby was fine.

"Wait," I sat back up, "Did you say she?"

Alastor's smile widen, "I did. The doctor's say it's a girl." I clasped one hand over my mouth and the other over my stomach. We were having a girl. A huge grin broke out across my face. We were going to be the parents of a daughter. Alastor and I sat there grinning like idiots for a moment, before he got serious again.

"My dear, I think we need to postpone any more missions until after our...our daughter...is born." He said, "I don't want to loose either one of you. This time was way too close."

I squeezed his hand, "I agree. Right now all I want to do is drink a cup of hot tea and read our baby books."

"That sounds perfect," He kissed my forehead, "And when the baby is born, we can murder all the scumbags in Hell you want." I giggled. Somehow this man seemed to make homicide sound sweet.

I looked up at the father of my daughter, "I love you, Alastor."

"I love you too, (Y/N)." Alastor replied, "You're the mother of my child, how could I not?"
