I got to go home from the hospital a few days later. And sure enough, Alastor and I took time off of our, well, job, and instead read every baby book we could get our hands on. Most days we would curl up in my cozy little apartment, reading, discussing what we read, and sipping on tea. And every day, the baby grew and grew until I resembled a beached whale.
"What do you think about Adele for her name?" I asked, lounging on the couch while Alastor cooked dinner for the both of us.
"Isn't that the name of some pop singer?" He replied, "I was thinking Annabelle." I stuck out my tongue and gave him a thumbs down. There was no way in Hell I would let our daughter be named after some creepy doll. Sighing, he came into the living room.
"We will have to pick a name eventually." Alastor said, "But there is something I wanted to ask you." I sat up straighter, inviting him to sit next to me. He sat down and took my hand.
"Would you want to move in with me?" He asked, peering intently at my face.
"What brought this on?" I smiled, touched at his offer.
He ran a hand through his hair, explaining, "I had been thinking it would be easier for the both of us. And it makes sense. I have a two bedroom apartment, and I don't mind giving up my study for our daughter."
"Do you really mean that?" I smiled at him. He nodded, returning my smile.
"I figured you might say that." He beamed at me, "So I went ahead and bought a crib and repainted my study."
"A crib?" I raised an eyebrow. I had see him kill too many times to count, but I couldn't for the life of me picture him buying a crib or setting one up. I will admit, it amused me.
He chuckled, "Yes, my dear, a crib. For our baby to sleep in." The way he said "our baby" made it so real to me. We were going to be parents.
Smiling, I flipped open the baby name book again, "Alright, since you didn't like Adele, let's keep looking." It didn't matter if we sat here until the baby was due, we would find the perfect name for her.
