Win or Lose: 500 Days with Him

Chapter 3:

I decided to stroll down the beach, konti na lang ang tao because it is almost midnight. The air is really refreshing, the sound of the waves is really beautiful. Ang sarap matulog dito, mas malamig dito kesa sa kwarto ko.

"Uy." Napatingin ako sa likod ko at nakita ko si ate Cha na papalapit sa akin.

"Ano ginagawa mo dito?" She asked me, she sat beside me and she looked directly to the dark skies.

"Nagpapahinga lang po." I answered politely.

"How are you? Aiden kept on telling me you are crazy about a guy in your class. Hindi mo binabanggit sa akin yun ah." She asked me.

"Crush lang po yun ate. Aside from that wala na. And why are you listening to Aiden?"

"Hindi ko din alam eh." Then we both laughed.

"How are you?" I asked her.

"I'm doing good." She answered quickly.

"Really?"

"Yeah." she answered shortly.

We were silent for a few seconds. I'm hesitating to ask her something.

"Hindi masamang magtanong. Alam ko na may gusto kang itanong sakin." She told me without even looking at me.

Huh? How come she knows? Masyado bang halata yung mga expressions ko at mabilis nyang mabasa. Bigla syang napatingin sa akin at napatingin din ako sa kanya. Am I going to ask her or what? Feeling ko sasagutin naman nya yung tanong ko eh.

Aarte pa ba ako eh sya na nag-insist na magtanong ako sa kanya.

"Jeno told me, you broke up with your boyfriend?" I asked her hesitantly. She laughed and I was surprised to see her laugh. Sya lang ata yung taong nakita ko na tumatawa after break-up. Iba kasi yung napapanuod ko sa movies. Yung iba hindi makapaniwala na break na sila, na nakakaubos ng sampung box ng tissue. Pero sya? natuwa pa sya sa lagay na yun?

My sister is crazy.

"Yeah. We did." She answered happily.

"Why? You loved him right? Why?" she looked me straight in the eyes and I can see pain through those orbs. I think she'll cry anytime.

Bat ang bobo mo Che, hindi pa ba obvious na parang hindi na nya gusto yung Vince nya? Kyaaaaa. Bat ko pa tinanong yun?

"You don't have to answer that." I said. Tumayo na ako pero hindi pa rin sya tumatayo. "Balik na tayo sa loob, masyadong malamig dito."

"I realizd I no longer do." She answered.

"Huh?"

"I have a reason to love him, now I have the reason to leave him."

"What reason?" I asked again. Curiosity strikes.

"I can't tell you. You don't have to know it in the first place." She turned to my direction and there are tears in her eyes.

Shit.

That's the first time I saw her cry.

I don't know for how long I'm asleep. Feeling ko nakatulog ako sa beach side. May nararamdaman kasi akong tubig sa mukha ko. Pero malambot naman yung hinihigaan ko kaya imposibleng nasa beach ako.

For the second time around may tumulo ulit na tubig sa mukha ko, pagmulat ko ng mata ko. Nakita ko si Aiden na may hawak na bote ng tubig.

"WAAAAAAH!" That irritating little bastard! Tumakbo sya palabas ng kwarto ko. Syempre hindi ako magpapatalo kaya hinabol ko sya. Dumaan sya sa fire exit.
