The sound of metal hitting metal is the first sign that they were heading the right way. The second was the sight of men in armor swinging swords at each other.
Before they got close enough Arthur stopped them.
"Stay back today. On the side. If anyone asks you to do anything refuse. I don't want your arms any worse. And your probably tired. You wouldn't be able to fight anyways."Merlin looked at him for a minute. When his mind finally processed what he said he nodded. Both the prince and his servant continued walking. He was actually happy, he hated being the target.
The knights greeted the prince like they always do. Except for Leon, the first thing he did was slap Merlin on the shoulder. Making the smaller one stumble.
"Hey Merlin, you ditched me last night."The young serving boy balanced himself and looked at the man. Leon was in his armor. Shining bright from the sun beating down on it. It wasn't as nice to look at as Arthurs armor. Mostly cause Merlin spelled the scratches out of it. The knights armor had dents littering the metal, from training and fights. He smiled at Merlin as he spoke.
"I thought we were going to the tavern together?" Finally Arthur turned to pay attention to his servant and the other knight. Heat bubbled up in his stomach. For reasons Arthur knew, but wasn't aloud to voice out loud.
The thought of Merlin going to the tavern with Leon enraged the prince. But he couldn't say anything, if he did he would lose the respect of his father. His title to the crown. However saying and doing, are two complete different things.
"Leon, your the first up," Arthur said, getting the attention of the other man, and the rest of the knights.
The knight in question smirked.
"Alright,"Both men walked to the center of the training field. Leon pulled a sword from the rack.
Merlin walked up to the other side of the field. Where Arthur stood by a table covered in weapons. Maces, axe, crossbows, swords, and other sharp objects Merlin didn't care for.
The blonde didn't look up at Merlin. He knew that he was there, but he didn't look.
"Don't go to the tavern, not with him," Arthur said picking up a sword.
"What?"
Looking up into confused blue eyes Arthur glared at him.
"I said don't, so just don't," the black haired servant didn't get to reply. Arthur was already walking over to the center of the training ground."What!!" Merlin yelled in his head. He still stood by the table confused. Thought after thought came flooding into his head. Did I do something wrong? Why doesn't he want me to go to the tavern? Did Leon do something? Is this because Gaius keeps telling Arthur he's a drunk?
As he asked himself these questions the fight started. Leon took the first swing. His sword being thrusted towards the prince. Arthur easily swiped the silver metal away from his person. Going in with a strike of his own. That was blocked by a shield.
There was no doubt about Arthur's skills as a swordsman. He was one of the best Merlin had ever seen. But there weren't any questions in Leon skills either. His ears rang as the two men's swords clashed together. A loud echo surrounded the field.
