I stared at the dead body just inches away from me. My arms hugging my knees and my head was tucked in between behind my knees. I couldn't think properly. This couldn't be Adolf Weismann. He was supposed to be alive, injured from the blast, yes; but dead? How? He is supposed to be immortal. The blast wouldn't have done that much harm! He's not breathing. He's not sleeping. I don't sense any type of aura coming from his body. Did his condition worsen during the fall? What if Munakata reprimands me for letting this man die? I won't be able to stay with Inari or visit nii-san while he's locked up.
I fucked up!
I fucked up so bad!
"I'm so sorry that I couldn't catch you in time." I mutter to the dead body as if he could possibly hear me. "Please forgive me even in heaven."
"Suoh!" I turned my head and saw Awashima running towards me. I wiped the tears from my face as I looked up at the Lieutenant. She slowed down to a halt and looked around. I tried my best to explain everything, but all I could think about were the consequences of failing to get this man into questioning. I took this duty on my own. I jumped out of the helicopter and tried my best to grab this man, like a falcon diving into the sky just to catch her prey. To save him!
"Gomen, Awashima-san." My voice was shaking, actually, my entire body was shaking. This was the very first time I had failed a mission, and I don't know what to do. "I thought I had him."
Awashima had held me tightly. I never thought that someone as cold as her would ever hug someone in her life. She felt warm around me, and she smelled like chamomile and lavender with hints of mint. It was a pleasant scent and it suits her perfectly. " It's alright, Suoh. The mission was a success. " Her voice was cradling my ear. Like a mother or a sister would soothe someone to sleep or calm them down. "You did good."
I lowered my head onto her shoulder. "But it would make everyone feel better if you didn't jump out of a moving helicopter like that, you're just as crazy as the captain."
"Hai." Awashima had helped me up from my position and we stared at the dead body.
"This is the First King?" I ask. Awashima nods. I furrowed my brow and circled around the body. He was handsome with his eyes clothes and his hands resting over his chest. Right over his heart.
"This was the Silver King, Adolf K. Weismann." She explains.
"If he is the first king," My eyes were meeting with Awashima's cold blue eyes. I can see why Izumo was so interested in her, aside from her body. She was quite beautiful. She pulled out her phone and began to press a few buttons, my guess was to call Munakata and report to him about me." The Silver King is supposed to be an Immortal King."
Awashima had dropped her phone. Her mouth was slightly open and the shock was written right over her face. I stood back up and circled around the body again. "Now if this is a fake body, where would the real Weismann be? Why did he have to use a fake body? According to my history book, Weismann was with His Excellency Daikaku Kokujoji on an experiment during World War II. This was based off the research about a stone that acted as a source for the aura,"
"The Dresden Slate." I nodded at her answer. My eyes locking with the rather tall building made of glass and bits of gold. I felt an intense amount of aura whenever I would walk past that building to get Ramen with Hana. I didn't know what it was about then, but now it's starting to make sense. This was the Timeless palace. Mihashira Tower. "That stone is kept under the watchful eyes of The Gold King."
"Tsubaki!" I looked over my shoulder as Inari came dashing towards the rails. I waved at her with a reassuring smile and shrugged my shoulders. slowly walking behind her with his hands by his side and a glare from the bright lights of the truck, was Saru.
