'For you - I could pretend that I was strong when I was hurt'
.
The first time that he met her was when he was five, sitting alone at a playground, (H/c) hair fluttering in the wind gently and (e/c) eyes shining brightly under the sunlight. You were simply adorable.
He was lonely.
You were the only one who approached him and asked to play with and he reluctantly agreed. Todoroki Shoto was happy when he was with you; when you played and dreamed of becoming heroes together, allowing him a short amount of blissful time to enjoy and escape from the thought of his father. But good times don't last long. Your family decided to move abroad.
On the last day of playing together you accidentally scraped your knee on the hard floor, causing you to bawl your eyes out while blood slowly trickled down your right knee. The bicolor hair boy panicked, not knowing how to stop someone, much less you, his first friend from crying. So in alarm, he quickly told you to stop crying because 'heroes don't cry'. That only caused you to cry louder, wailing that you can't become a hero with him.
"You can become a hero, (Y/n)! Don't cry, sometimes heroes cry too!" He tried again, hoping you would stop wailing. It worked somehow. With glossy eyes and tears streaming down your face, you stared curiously into his mismatched eyes . At least you stopped wailing but some sobs still left your lips every once in awhile.
"Really? I can still be a hero?" You questioned him, unsure of what he just said. The boy with unique white and red hair nodded vigorously, scared that you might cry again. The girl let out a happy smile despite the salty liquid streaming down her face and her runny nose. "That's great!"
"Are you still hurt?" Todoroki asked worriedly, looking at your right knee. It stopped bleeding but he figured it must still sting, at least for a five year old girl. He was worried that you might cry again and he absolutely hated that he couldn't do anything to help you at that moment.
"A little bit." The small girl lied, looking down at her knee. It stung a lot. Tears brimmed at the edge of (e/c) eyes, threatening to spill like a waterfall. Todoroki panicked again. He realised that you might bawl your eyes out and he has no idea how to stop you from doing that. In the last minute before his first friend could allow the tears to stream down her pink cheeks, he hugged her.
"Don't cry! Please! I don't want to see you cry since it makes me sad too." He muttered and pulled away from the hug, his cheeks colored with pink hues. "So please, don't cry."
The girl stopped herself from sobbing, wiping her watery eyes and gazed at the boy who was a bit taller than her. "Fine, I won't." She said with a hiccup, trying to stop herself from crying. The small girl ignored the pain since she didn't want him to be sad. His face would be better with a smile and his beautiful eyes should be filled with joy and happiness. Not sadness and loneliness like when she saw them the first time.
That was the last day that the two of them played together. Todoroki Shoto thought that he wouldn't be able to meet you again after your departure. However, fate decided otherwise and let him meet you in U.A.
But it seems his only childhood friend, (Y/n), doesn't remember him. It stirred an unsettling feeling in his chest and he wasn't quite sure what it was. He ignored it.
"You don't seem so well, Todoroki." Yaoyorozu spoke out of the blue. He glanced at her who sat opposite of him with a project that they were supposed to work together in her hand. His textbook was blank when it was supposed to be full of notes and information about the laws on Heroes in Japan.
"What made you say that?"
The girl gave him a pointed look, "Well, you haven't done anything for the past 5 minutes. And you were staring at the paper. Frowning." She replied with a stern voice, "This is highly unlike you, Todoroki."
"I'm sorry." He didn't really meant it, but he was polite unlike a certain hot headed, blonde boy who kept screaming profanities at everyone and everything.
"Something on your mind?"
Todoroki pauses. An image of the girl with (h/c) hair and (e/c) eyes smiling brightly at him appeared. 'Let's be friends!' She exclaimed with cheerfulness, eager to be friends with him. He shook his head.
"Nothing."
