Step One in Operation Seriousness, now titled Operation Serious Stuff: narrow it down to the Elite. I knew who I wanted. Now I just had to act on it.
Two boys said they wanted to go home after the attack. I sent them with hugs, money, and guards. I wanted them to be protected as much as possible. Now, I had to eliminate 7 more. I decided to follow my grandfather and Mom. I was going to have an Elite of six. I was legit.
The boys were all in the Common Room. They were all nervous and bumbling. Well, all except Shaan. I shot him a wink across the room and he smiled. It was only then that I realized how there wasn't anyone around him. He was the lone wolf of the group.
"Hey guys!" I exclaimed. "After the attack on the palace, I am more sure than ever in what I want in a prince and a partner. With that newfound confidence, I will be selecting my Elite today. Not of ten people, but of six."
I tried to ignore the horrible silence that followed. "The six Elite are: Shaan Palon, Adim Mbiyo, Jakob Hutchinson, Tyrion Paul, Berry Clark, and Chaarlie Demes. The rest of you, thank you so much for your time, conversations, and everything you else you brought with you. I will never forget you. May you have the healthiest and happiest lives in the future."
I supported all of those Eliminated as best as I could. I would have to give them all personalized parting gifts.
The cameras were off and just like that, my Selection had truly begun.
