02: Yaoguai

"Was that a body!" Minhyuk's voice was shaky and he sounded terrified

I froze, my mind not processing what was in front of me. In the translucent wall there seemed to be what looked like a shape of a man inside.

Minhyuk nudged me, but my mind was blank until I realized what just happened.

"I think we should go tell Haerin." I finally spoke as my mouth loosened up from my body completely going into shock

The bright sunlight shone into the cavern, shining right onto that very spot of where the mysterious figure was.

"Okay, let's go get her then" He's voice still had a frightened tone to it

"Wait. You know what, I'm going to stay here, you go get Haerin." I was shocked at what I said but I didn't say anything else

"What! Are you crazy, there is a freaking corpse inside the wall." He voice suddenly serious

My eyes left the wall and met his, I gave him a glare; he's eyes widened nodding his head, he knew what I would do if he didn't listen, he was scared of me.

He rushed to the opening of the cave and ran outside, he abruptly came to a halt, "Be careful Miran, don't do anything stupid." He clearly was concerned. He started to run again until he was no longer in sight.

I started to wander around the cavern taking cautious, steady strides towards a corner of the place. I traced my hand over the paintings on the hard, stone cold wall. My eyes drifted off to a certain detailed painting; it looked like a battle, there were bodies lying on the grass, armored soldiers riding horseback.

I continued to stare at the scene before me, something caught my eye though. There were creature type beings in the front of the battle, they had big, fierce wings like angels, they seemed to have intimidating looks, they looked distressed though, like something bad was going to happen to them.

My heart skipped a beat as I heard a thud, I turned and sighed in relief, "Oh it was just a bug." I softly chuckled at the fact I got started so easily. I started to walk around a little more, "Ow" I winced in pain, I just hit my foot on something. I picked it up and inhaled a ton of dust, I started coughing until I no longer had a scratchy throat. I took my cloth and wiped the dust off of the object.

"The Book of Supernatural Creatures" I read aloud. I scoffed, "Supernatural creatures, really?"

I opened it up, it was quite a struggle since the book was really heavy. On the page I found what looked like the 'Creatures' that was in the painting, but something was off, they seemed to look evil in a way, the ones in the painting looked more gentle and sweet but still dangerous.

"Moguai; they are almost exactly like Yaoguai, but they do have some differences, Moguai are Yaoguai but they did horrible crimes or in some cases, they were born Moguai so they were always known as the evil duplications of Yaoguai. They also aren't immortal like Yaoguai so most Moguai try and steal Yaoguai immortality or other abilities that they don't have." I read

"Yaoguai; Mostly malevolent animal spirits or fallen celestial beings, they are magnificent creatures and they are very powerful, Moguai and Yaoguai are often in battles with each other. If a Yaoguai is captured by a Moguai they might be locked up somewhere or the Moguai might try to gain their immortality or other abilities." I continued

I closed the book, "What a bunch of nonsense." I started to chuckle until I realized I was in the same place with a corpse. I started to panic.

My paranoid self quickly looked over to make sure the body didn't somehow escape, I let go of my breath once I saw that it was still there. I set the book done on a large stone and sat down, turning my head in all directions to see if I didn't forget to examine anything else. I started to feel relaxed by listening to the wind whistling and the birds chirping, I closed my eyes.

"Miran!" I jumped up, feeling startled, "were you asleep?" Haerin asked

"No, I wasn't I was just resting. I haven't gotten a lot of sleep recently." I answered in an irritated voice since she interrupted my peace.

"Oh sorry, Minhyuk told me there was a body..." Her sentence drifted off as she took sight of the wall.

"See" Minhyuk suddenly appeared, "isn't that so freaky?"

"Stop being a wimp" I teased, "they was probably people living here a long time ago and they buried important people in caves."

"Miran's right, people used to live here hundreds of years ago. It was probably their ruler or something" Haerin agreed.

"Well it's still weird" Minhyuk pouted.

"Yeah it is." I replied while staring closely at the figure in the wall.

"Did you find anything else?" Haerin questioned

"Well I found this old book, probably a children's book though, it's about supernatural creatures." I started to laugh again at the thought of someone making the book.

"If it kept them entertained" Haerin enthusiastically said.

"Should we go now?" Minhyuk finally spoke, "the sun is probably going to set soon so we should leave before then"

"Yeah we will soon, let's look around a bit more maybe there is secret passageways in this cave" Haerin joked

"But I want to leave, I'm tired" Minhyuk yawned

"Oh please, what have you done this whole time" I rolled my eyes.

"I ran all the way to the other side of the island just to get Haerin for you to show her that body. I'm exhausted okay?" He argued

"Okay we get it, you had to go and fetch her, but we've been the ones to do all the work in analyzing the artifacts." I said.

"Speaking of artifacts" Minhyuk curiously said, "did you find out anything about that shield and sword we found Haerin?"

"Not yet" she replied, "it will take a couple of days, but we should probably get back to the beach and pack up."

We both nodded. As Minhyuk was stepping back to leave he tripped over a rock and fell back into the wall with the corpse in it...

It cracked, the wall cracked in half. There was a loud bang and the sound of stones breaking. We all fell back, as my vision became clear I saw something and after I realized what it was so did the others...

"It's Alive!" We all shrieked

What do you think of this chapter? I hope you enjoyed it, there are probably a lot of mistakes in there. I'll try to update as quick as I can, I'm really busy at the moment so I don't really have time to write and publish new chapters, I'm really sorry and I hope you guys understand.
