Chapter 8
The Stable Boy
She was on my mind, and she was beautiful. I only knew her name, Ella. The way she looked at me, when she disappeared made my heart sink. She was the rare rose in a garden of weeds. But yet because of her, I was stuck here, hopeless. I was lost with out her. When I saw her in the village, my world changed. She is guardian angel. She is perfect.
Why do I feel about her this way. When I first saw her at the village it was because she ran into me. And when I tried to return the medallion, she ran away. But when I caught up she yelled at me. Then at the ball, she almost push me down those stairs. The only good time I had with her was when we danced. But she was with the prince. He is my master, I had no right to stand up for her. I couldn't help it, the way he treated her was, well, unbearable.
It was because of her that I was stuck in this cold, damp cell, rotting. I should hate her, but the way she made me feel, I felt like my problems disappeared. When our hands first touched, it felt like magic. lt felt like, like, well, perfect. It was the perfect moment, I wasn't me, I was brave, I could say anything. But when she disappeared, I felt like I was lost,
Lost in thought, I don't notice Prince William standing in the doorway. I don't know how long he was standing there, but it must had be a while, because he looked impatient.
"Get to work." He said in a gruff tone.
"Wh-what, you want me to get back to work? After what I did?! I humiliated you in front of the whole kingdom. She ran away because of me! Yet you want to come back and get back to work? Why?" I explained.
"I said get back to work! Do you want to be whipped!" William roared!
" I asked why?" I gulped.
"My master-" William started to say before he stop himself, "It doesn't matter, now do you want to be punished or not!"
Startled I jumped back. " No-No sir." I replied lowering my tone.
Looking down at me in utter disgust, "Good, now go, you disgust me."
Scurrying to get to my feet, I escaped out of there. Rushing up the stairs as fast as possible. Why did he let me go? In the back of my brain, I heard the word master echo, but it wasn't what I sounded like, this was more female. But the voice was right, William did say master. That was strange, especially that his Mother died of Verecndiam, and his father, ignores him. No one has seen the king for years, not even William. Since the Queens death, all he does is lock himself in his room. Plus William is the prince, his parents would be the only one he would listen too.
I couldn't rap my head around everything. I when I tried to think, I couldn't, all I could do was day dream about her. When I was stuck in the cell, I didn't think about anything, but her. She was different, she was special. She saw the world unlike anyone, before I met her, I hated the world, I was angry. But now I don't know how what to think. Should I be angry, or should be grateful. There was so many mixed emotions.
As I made my way down to the stables, I noticed that something was strange. It was cold and wet, but the castle was always like that. This- this was different. This felt dark and like I was meant to feel scared. I wanted to hold myself, but I wanted to seem manly, even though I wanted to run away and cry. That was foolish I thought as I made my was into the kitchen.
The second I walked thought the doors, the smell of bread filled the air. As I walked in Mary and Jade ran to me.
" Your alive." Jade lamely. " You were lucky"
Jade was about my age, maybe slightly older. She was very beautiful, I keep telling her to marry, but she just laughs. She had jet black hair, that was always pulled into a braid that went down to her elbows. She was always in the kitchen helping her mother or running around with William, being his personal maid. She was never outside, so she had this lovely porslen skin. She may be a girl, but she was my best friend.
Suddenly Mary raps her arms around me. She was like my mother I've never had. I was abandon when I was an infant and Mary found me. She was never able to have kids, so she raised me as her own. When I was about five, she wasn't able to pay back a debt to the king. To make it up, she took a job as a maid. That's were she met, Jade. Jade was born as William's servant.
Taking her wrist, Mary wiped away he tears. "Here, let me get you something to eat, you must be starving." After a couple more sniffles, Mary tried to pull herself together. " Jade get him something. "There's some bread and cheese over there." she was pointing at a small brown, leather sack sitting on a long, wooden counter.
Jade rushed over to the sack. " Guys, guys, please stop. I'm fine, I'm not hungry."
" Oh, piss poss. Here." Jade said as she handed me the sack. " You're going to need the strength."
"Fine" I joke, taking the sack.
" Ah, you such a good boy." Jade laughs nudging me. " Now hurry up, you don't want to get caught here again. Expressly after, well you kind-of-stole his girlfriend."
"Yes your Majesty" I chuckled. " You wish is my command." Jade couldn't help but giggle. " Anyways, bye."
Quickly, I ran out the door. Just I past the thought the door. I ran into a young girl about twenty-one, she had bright red hair, pulled up into a tight bun. Taking one quick glance at me. She immediately grabs my hand, pulling her lips close to my ear, she whispered " Follow me if you ever wanted to save her her." Most people wouldn't know who she was talking about. But the difference between me and most people is, I did.
Slowly I nodded my head. If she was endanger, I would save her. It was my job, she was my only love. She was my Ella. The girl started to run towards the woods, and I sprinted after her. It only took about a minute or two to get to the woods. I stopped on the edge, turned around and looked at the castle. That was my home and I was leaving for good. It may have been prison but it hurt to leave.
"Goodbye" I muttered, then disappeared into the forest.
