Chapter 11
The Surprise
"Where are you taking me?" I said as Amber pulled my hand as hard as she could. My arm almost was pulled out from my socket. "Ouch! That hurt!"
Whipping around, she pulls my right arm towards her ear, "Listen, if the council found out that we were doing this, we would be executed." She whispered in a hushed manner. Her eyes darted both ways as she spoke. "If you tell anyone, well, let's just say that there will be one big, royal wedding. I bet you can put the pieces together."
My blood turned cold. She won't make-turn me to- him? No! She had a heart, she couldn't, she wouldn't. That was just low. "Ok, I promise."
"Good. Come on lets hurry."
I followed her through different streets I haden't been down. Most of them looked the same, ancient and covered in moss to the roof. The strange letters changed into English as I walked down the streets, they were English but they were so old and the paint was almost unseeable. I was not able to read the whole thing.
The streets were filling up with people, they were coming in, not even giving us a single glance. Was this normal? Each building looked like the next. It was like a nightmare were your stuck in a maze, everything looks the same and there is no way out. This town was old and not normal. Everyone was young, the oldest people I saw looked thirty at most. There weren't any children and the youngest were teens.
I started losing Amber more often, the streets were so crowded, almost as if the king himself was going to be here. Everyone rushing to get some were. This was defiantly the strangest place I've ever been, but it had a strange feeling of magic.
"What ever" I thought to myself, "there is no such thing as magic, these people are weird and stuff but magic just isen't real. Quickly I shook that idea off. No such thing, you are going crazy, have hallucinations, what ever I don't care, I'm not or will ever be one of them. There is nothing in this world they could offer me."
"So, umm.." I muttered, trying to strike up a conversation. " What is the surprise?"
Amber spun on her heel, glaring at me offended. "Its a surprise, I can't tell you! City-" Her hand quickly slapped over her mouth. The other went on it, then turning her head, they covered her whole face. She was trying so hard not to laugh. The laughing sounded demented sobbing.
"What?!"
"Your face... Its... "
"Ok, that burned."
"Sorry"
"Ok, now follow me." She twisted my arm as she dragged me around the next corner. We were almost on the other side of town, my legs felt sore, "Please... stop... slow... down." I couldn't catch my breath, I bent down, placing both hands on my knees, huffing like a a charging bull. I had no energy left in me. I was dizzy, tried and my face felt hot. I can't run to far, I am still worn out from the strange liquid she called "Rayelmpr"
Finally she lets go and I fall straight to the ground, my head falls into my arms as they rest on my knees. I had no energy left in me, I feel as if someone has sucked it all out of me. The whole block was spinning, my head was pounding, my forehead was burning me. I was light-headed and I could barely keep my eyes open, my vision was blotchy. "Ella, you shouldn't be tired. You slept for almost a week, how can you be tired?"
How could I been a sleep? Was my destiny that horrifying? If its been that long, what could have happened to Elliot. Where is he? What has William done to Elliot?
"Ella, come on, let me help you, the house is right over there, you need to get up."
"I can't."
My eyes shut, complete darkness, nothing. I could feel Amber pulling my arm around her shoulder. She slowly dragged me, into what I think was her cottage. She slammed something behind me, which I believe was a door. After a couple more steps, she lay me onto the the most comfortable bed. I could feel myself sink into the feather filled mattress.
I was able to think, breath, feel like a human, but I couldn't move. I felt trapped in my own body. I could smell a warm broth on the other side of the room. Amber was moving quickly, she seemed in a hurry. Her feet were scurrying across the floor, as if they were a mob of mice.
After sometime, she made her way over to me. My mouth filled with a warm broth, as she poured it in. Strength was feeling my body, I was able to open my eyes, I could she the moonlight fill the room. I sat up and looked around. Her cottage was like the one she came to me in.
"Hurry, get dressed"
"Why?"
"Look, just put this on." She tossed something at me. It was my dress, the one I wore to the ball. I was astonished, it was a thousand times more perfect. There was no tearing in it, no dirt, nothing, it looked even better when I wore it. Running over to Amber, I hugged here as hard as possible.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you." After thanking her about three billion times, I finally but on the dress. Amber gasped when she saw me. She instantly grabbed me and squealed. "Is it that bad?" I asked quietly. "The opposite, you look- you look- wow" sighing, she looked at me happily."Girl, you look drop dead gorgeous. Tugging on me, she lead me over to a chair. There was a small mirror in front of me, and she started doing my hair.
Suddenly my hair transformed from bedhead, to I'm the princess, in seconds. My milk chocolate brown hair was pinned in to a bun, made up of a million tightly wound curls. My side bangs framed my face and completed the look.
Turning the chair around, she shifted my head to each side as she place in pure white diamond earrings. They gleamed with the dress and looked like stars with my hair. I felt as if I could cry, but there was one thing I couldn't figure out. Why. Why were she doing this? It didn't make sense, was she going to bring me to William? No, she has a heart.
Reaching in a small box, she pulled out the most beautiful and uncomfortable shoes I have ever worn. "We saved these" She had the biggest smile on her face. She was beaming with excitement. I was shaking, she was doing the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.
"I don't know who to thank you." I began.
"Don't thank me yet, I'm not done."
Putting on the glass slippers, I stand up. I stumble a little bit, I forgot how hard these are to walk in. "Follow me" Amber declared as she walked out the back door. My eyes couldn't get enough of what I saw. It was beautiful. Small lanterns filled the trees, fireflies were everywhere. A large area was open as if it was a dance floor. Small marble benches lined the trail.
Then a figure came out from the trees. I couldn't believe who it was,"It's you!"
