"GARDEVOIR! DODGE AND USE FOCUS BLAST!" I yelled out.
Gardevoir nodded and managed to jump off to the side, and used Focus Blast, creating a large beam that shotdirectly in the direction of the opposing Pokémon. The move hits Gladeon's Silvally, knocking it out after a long and hard battle.
"W-wha-?" Stammered Gladeon, grasping his arm tightly in his hand and hunched over in disbalief.
Gardevoir's gardevoirite powers down, allowing her to transform back to her original form.
"Nice try Gladeon, but nobody will be defeating me anytime soon" I say, smirking. I summoned Gardevoir back into her pokeball before walking over to him. He was still in the same position, looking down at his trembling hand.
"Come on. Let's get you out of here. Better luck next time Gladeon" I say, patting his back.
He seemed to ease up and looked up at me.
"How come everytime I train my pokemon more, I always manage to lose every time? Am I not strong enough?" He asked sadly.
"I don't know for sure, but someone once told me that the moves you choose your Pokémon to use in that split second during a battle will determine the outcome. You could use a grass type move against a water type and win, but if you use a fire type against a water type, you could lose. For instance, Gardevoir used Focus Blast, which your Silvally is weak against." I say.
"So, what do you think I should do to make me and my Pokémon stronger?" He asked, slouching down a bit.
"The bond that you have with your Pokémon. If your Pokémon love you no matter what, they will trust you to make the right decision on which moves they should use. Your Pokémon will be more likely to win a battle if you have a strong bond with them, becuase they will do anything to make you happy. They love you, and you love them" I say, smiling gently and putting my hand on his shoulder in comfort.
He looks down, then looks back up at me and smiled, nodding.
"I think I finally get what you mean. Thanks (Y/N)" He says, happily.
"Anything to help" I say smiling back at him.
We left the Pokémon League and went our separate ways. He called his Charizard with his ride pager and headed back to the Aether Foundation. I called my Charizard with my pager and headed back to my house. I still live my mom, but she had to leave for a couple of months to go to Kalos.
She was one of the head organizers who helps organize the Pokémon Showcase. It's a really popular show where a bunch of Pokémon performers do thier best and try to win a Princess Key. The ones with the most keys gets to perform in the final show. In the final round, they try going against the Kalos Queen, who I believe is still Aria.
They hold the Showcase every year, meaning she has to leave to go to Kalos every year to help organize the Showcase. It usually takes about a month or two. When I was younger, she used to bring me every year since she was a single mother, but ever since I turned 16, she let me stay home by myself, along with my Pokémon.
As for my Pokémon, I have a Shiny Gardevoir (who can mega evolve), a Sylveon, and an Absol (who also mega evolves). The three I've had since I was younger. I've had Sylveon and Gardevoir since they first hatched from thier eggs. Absol used to belong to my grandmother, who unfortunately passed away. The two used to be famous for thier Pokémon Performances in Kalos when my grandmother was in her 20s. She received Absol from an egg for her birthday.
