"El are you ready to go?" My older brother Marcus asked. I nodded and we left the grocery store. "Sorry I made you go with me this late. I needed to get out of the house after that fight with mom and dad." He said while getting in the driver's seat. "It's ok Marcus, I understand," I spoke with a small smile.

"Did you finish your homework yet?" He asked

"Umm..."

"That's exactly what I thought." He laughed.

"Hey, it's not my fault the work is so hard," I said putting my hands up in defense.

He chuckled and said "I know you're smart enough to do it El. You're gonna go far in life. I believe in you." He nudged my shoulder. "I'll always believe in you."

I smiled "Thanks, Marcus."

A bright flash of light that I will never forget came out of nowhere. That was the last thing I remembered before passing out.

I heard a faint beeping sound. My whole body ached in pain. Slowly I opened my eyes. I looked around the hospital room to see Finn asleep next to my bed. He looked like he had been crying. I glared down at the IV in my arm before ripping it out. I ignored the beeping machines and the horrible pain shooting through me as I got out of the bed.

"El no. Don't get up." Finn said rushing over to me.

"Where's Marcus?" I whispered staring into his eyes.

His mouth opened and his eyes began to tear up. "El." He spoke softly. "No," I said my voice cracking. As quickly as I could I left the room with Finn running after me. In the hallway, I saw my mom in my dad's arms. Sobbing. "This isn't real. This isn't real!" I cried. I felt Finn's arms wrap around me as I wept.

I shot up from my bed gasping. Tears streamed down my face. I pulled my knees up to my chest and ducked my head down while I cried. It's bad enough in real life, so why do I have to relive it in my dreams? I looked at the clock on my phone. "One year today," I mumbled to myself. Soon I slowly started to drift back to sleep.

I woke up to my phone blasting Ritual by Marshmello. It was my ringtone for Finn.

"Hello?" I said in a groggy voice.

"Hey El, are you ok?" He asked carefully.

"Just peachy," I replied in a dry tone.

Some silence filled the air before he asked. "What time do you want me to get you? It's 7:30 right now."

"Is 8:30 ok?"

"8:30 is just fine. I'll see you in a bit El."

"Ok bye."

"Bye."

I got up and walked into the hall. Making my way towards the stairs something in my head stopped me. My eyes scanned the door I hadn't been in for a year. His door. I don't know why I did it but I turned the cold metal handle and pushed my way inside. Emotions flooded through me as my eyes searched the room. Everything was just as it should have been. His bed was made and his video games were neatly stacked next to it. He always was a neat freak. I sadly laughed thinking about how he would always force Ty and me to clean our rooms. The dust had collected on the shelves he had constantly cleaned.

"I miss you M." I whispered. My eyes fell on a photo of Marcus, Tyler, and me over a year ago at the creek. Mere seconds later I tripped and fell in. Marcus tried to help me up but fell in also as Ty laughed at us. I smiled sadly thinking about that day. Warm tears fell down my cheeks and onto my chapped lips. 'I can't handle this,' I thought and fled from the room. I know one thing for sure, today isn't going to be easy.
