二┊troublemaker stage ‣ rehearsal

eunbyeol was invited to perform a cover of 'troublemaker' by troublemaker along with another idol for a stage to be broadcasted on mbc music core. the girl would be coming of age in less than a year (in korea) and when she got the email, her manager thought it'd be great solo experience for her.

today, the first rehearsal would be held. eunbyeol still wasn't told who she'd be performing with, so she was quite nervous. it was around nine in the morning and in the dorm, the maknae of stray kids was watching performances of the song. she had heard the track before but never took the time to focus on the choreography.

stretching out his arms and letting out a yawn, hyunjin appeared in the entrance of the living room.

"goodmorning, xiaooo~" he semi-sleepily greeted, plopping down on the couch beside her. "what are you watching?"

the tips of his bangs were slightly damp from washing his face and they tickled eunbyeol's neck as hyunjin laid his head on her shoulder, peeking at her and jeongin's laptop.

"troublemaker performances," eunbyeol answered, focused on the screen.

"why? are you learning the dance?" hyunjin joked and played with her fingers.

"..yeah, actually—"

"wait, what?!"

hyunjin sat up, looking at her with wide eyes, "with who?!"

"i'm not sure yet," eunbyeol shrugged her shoulders and shut the computer. "we're supposed to perform for mbc."

"but the dance is so.. touchy.."

"i'm almost eighteen, oppa."

"yOu'Re sTILL a ChiLd!" hyunjin whined. "whoever's dancing with you has to touch your butt!"

eunbyeol laughed before it quickly dialed down, pink spreading throughout her face.

"it'll be okay. i think," she said.

then, there was a knock at the front door followed by it unlocking and opening itself. revealing one of their managers, the two idols both waved at her.

"morning, guys. eun, are you ready?" she asked.

"yeah! just let me grab a jacket," eunbyeol put the laptop to the side and rushed to her, chan's, and changbin's shared room.

while she was away, hyunjin turned to their manager, "do you know who she's performing with?"

aera patted his head and let out a small laugh.

"that's a surprise," she said before eunbyeol came back.

"ready!" the maknae excitedly exclaimed, wearing jisung's yellow and black flannel and holding a pair of vans in her hand.

their manager wrapped an arm around her shoulders and the two bid farewell to hyunjin.

"bye, shortie, be good! stay safe! don't get too touchy!" hyunjin waved as the door closed behind them.

the drive to the company was talkative, eunbyeol and her manager finding many things to talk about regarding the performance. when they got there, eunbyeol trailed behind her manager up to their usual practice room and heads straight for the laptop connected to the speakers.

"they should be here any minute now," aera said, glancing at her wrist watch.

coincidentally, footsteps approaching the room could be heard, followed by a gentle knock at the already-opened door.

"aera-ssi?" the other idol's manager called out.

"hi, taejun!"

eunbyeol looked away from the computer and rushed over to aera, giving the two boys a bow.

"you might know him already, but this is hwall from the boyz," taejun, their manager, introduced.

hwall showed a smile and politely bowed at the two girls, "hello!"

aera put a hand on eunbyeol's shoulder.

"this is stray kids' eunbyeol."

said girl was slightly distracted by hwall's good looks, so it took her a split second to react.

"a-ah, hi," she shyly greeted.

"okay, well," aera said, clapping her hands together. "the choreographer will be here in a little bit to help you with the dance, so in the mean time, you guys can get to know each other."

the two idols looked at each other with pink colored faces before eunbyeol nodded her head as a gesture for hwall to follow her. they sat on the couch off to the side and because eunbyeol was always kind of awkward when first meeting new people, she didn't talk much. that didn't stop her from starting the conversation though; she wanted to talk to him as much as he wanted to talk to her.

"so, hwall—"

"hyunjoon," he interrupted, causing the girl to tilt her head in confusion. "my birth name."

"hyunjoon," she repeated. "in that case, call me xiaoxing."
