A/N: So sorry with missing two weeks in a row! I got super busy! Apart from being a full-time student, I have 2 jobs and I got sidetracked! I'm sad I haven't been all too inspired and excited to write for a hot minute :( but I'll try to do better! Writing brings me to a place where I feel truly happy. I'm so thankful I started this story and I'm excited for you guys to see where it goes!

I looked out the window while drinking the tea I made. Eren was coming over after his classes ended so I finished my work as quickly as possible. It was just the beginning of September and the leaves were beginning to change color. The few trees in the small grassed areas on this street were turning into beautiful shades of gold and amber.

Eren arrived at the apartment around 4 pm and started to do homework. He sat on the floor at the coffee table, leaning against the couch. I sat behind him watching him draw dots on a bunch of lines I didn't really understand. He mumbled to himself a few times about different musical things and I just watched. It's kinda entertaining watching his brain work. He then took out his laptop and opened a blank document. "Essay?" I asked.

"Yeah it's about a moment in your life music had an impact." He said. I closed my eyes and listened to his typing. He would write a little but then hit one for a while, guessing he was erasing everything he just wrote. After a while, I looked over his shoulder to see what he had done when his phone began ringing. When he held his phone up I saw two things, the contact name: Dad, and the reflection of his face. He looked like he knew what this call was about yet hesitant to answer it.

"Are you gonna take that?" I ask.

"Yeah, umm can you excuse me for a minute?" He mumbled.

I nodded and he stood up and went to the bedroom. I looked at the screen of his laptop and saw a blank paper. Something was bothering him and I had to find out. I tiptoed up to the room to try and hear what Eren was saying through the closed door.

"Yeah, I'm ok....... how are you?......That's good... No, he doesn't know... I'm alone in the bedroom right now.......I know I just don't want him to worry..... yes I'm aware but-....yeah... alright. Did you visit her today?.... Good, me?......*sigh* n-no. I tell you every year I just can't do it today. I'll visit tomorrow maybe. Yeah, I love you too. Bye."

I run back to the couch after hearing that concerning one-sided conversation and try to act normal when Eren comes out of the room. He plopped down back in his spot, pretending everything was totally normal. He looked at his laptop where the typing cursor blinked over and over.

"Eren." I finally say, breaking the silence.

This caused Eren to slightly jump, "Y-yeah?"

"I can tell there's something wrong so you might as well tell me what's going on," I say bluntly, moving to the side to see his face. He looks up and I can tell by the look in his eyes there was something bothering him.

He took a deep sigh before uttering, "Today makes it 13 years since my mom died."

That explains why he's not acting like himself. I move down to the floor next to him. I wrap my arm around him and he rested his head on my shoulder. "That's why your dad called," I said and he nodded. "You should have told me. You forget I can tell when you're sad. Were you planning on going the entire day alone with your thoughts?"

"I... I don't know." He mumbled.

I take a deep breath, "I'm sorry Eren. I wish I could make this better."
