Jugheads POV:
I had been sitting in the waiting room for hours. I'm tired of waiting. I'm tired of not knowing if the love of my life is going to live. I walked up to the desk and decided to ask if she was awake. The last few times I had asked they told me that she was unconscious. "Uhm hi. I was wondering if you had any new information on Elizabeth Cooper?" I asked the woman with a shaking voice. I hoped they would have an update but at the same time my hopes weren't too high. "We do actually." I was so happy. She was okay. "She is in room 394." I was smiling like a dork but I didn't care was so happy. "Thank you." I said quickly before running to her room.
I stood out the door, took a deep breath and walked in. The state she was in broke my heart. Any trace of a smile was instantly wiped from my face. "Hey Betts." I whispered. Her hair was tangled and messy, she was wearing a hospital gown, and seemed to be deep in thought. "Jug?" She asked looking at me with her emerald green eyes. She tried to sit up but winced in pain. I quickly rushed to her bedside and helped her to lay back down. "Careful you can rip your stiches." I said pulling a chair closer to her bed. "How are you?" She looked down at her hands as she played with her nails. "Good." I knew she was lying but I didn't want to push her.
"Hey Jug?" She asked looking up from her hands. "Thank you for saving me." She held eye contact for a minute before looking back down at her hands. "Of course Betty. Are you really okay? You can talk to me." She looked up at me and as soon as she caught my eyes she looked back down. I moved closer to her and put my hand under her chin to make her look at me. A tear slid down her face. I wiped it with my thumb. "I just," She paused as if thinking about whether she wanted to tell me or not. "I cant stop thinking about what happened. Everything is just replaying in my head. I cant stop thinking about it." My heart broke even more at her words.
I hated that this happened to her. I hated that I couldn't help her. "W-what if they come back?" That is what completely broke me. She looked down to hide another tear that rolled down her face. "Betty look at me." She looked up and met my eyes. "I'm not going to let this happen to you ever again. I may not have been there the first time but I'm never leaving again. Okay?" She didn't respond at first. She just stared into space. "Hey, do you believe me?" I asked. She nodded as a couple more tears slid down her face. I moved into the empty space on her hospital bed and cuddled her. It felt so good to hold her again. Before I knew it she fell asleep in my arms. I chuckled at how adorable she was when she was sleeping but shortly after I felt myself start to drift off.
Bettys POV:
I woke up in my hospital bed with no one beside me. I figured Jughead must have gone home I groaned as I tried to sit up. I thought about what happened and smiled. I'm so happy I have him. A few seconds later Jughead walked through the door. "Hey you're awake. I talked to the nurses and they said you can go home today." I nodded still smiling. I don't know why but I just felt really happy today. "Your mom brought these while you were asleep. You seem happy today." I smiled more at his comment. "Yeah. I don't know why I just feel great today." He smiled along with me. "That's great Betts! Any special requests for where we go when you get out of the hospital?"
I thought for a second. I wanted to go to pops but I was exhausted. " Can we just go home? I'm exhausted." He nodded as I picked up the clothes and went into the bathroom to change. I walked out of the bathroom wearing the pink sweater, jeans, and white converse my mother had brought for me. When I walked back into my hospital room I was met with Jughead sitting on his phone. "Hey Betts. Your mom said she is out running some errands, so do you mind coming to my place." I smiled at this. I wasn't excited for the twenty one questions I would inevitably get from my mother. "I don't mind at all." I said. He stood up from his chair and placed a kiss on my cheek. We walked out of the hospital room our fingers intertwined. Jughead walked up to the counter to sign me out as I continued to walk to the car. A few minutes later I saw him walk out of the hospital building. "Hey Betts?" he said opening the car door and getting in.
"Yeah." I responded. Without looking up. The events of the previous day playing on loop in my head. "You seem distant. Are you okay?" I looked up at him and painted a perfect Cooper smile on my face. "I'm fine. Just tired." He looked at me skeptically but eventually pulled his keys from his pocket and started the car. "Well soon we will be home. I think we all need to relax."
Soon enough we were in front of Jugheads trailer. He jumped out of the car and walked to the other side. He opened my door and bowed. "My lady." I giggled at his joke. It was little things like this that I missed. "Thank you, my kind sir." I joked in a British accent. We walked into the trailer and immediately fell onto the couch.
Jugheads POV:
I knew Betty was probably sick of hospital food so I decided to go get her some Pops. "Hey Betts, I'm going to run to Pops." I said while grabbing my jacket and keys. "Okay." I turned around and kissed her forehead before leaving.
"Hey pop" I said entering the small diner. "Can I get the usual and Bettys usual as well." Pop nodded and immediately got to work. He soon came out with both betty and I's meals. I thanked him and hurried home.
"Hey Betty" I said walking through the door. I spotted Betty on the couch staring at her phone with a tear rolling down her cheek. "Betts you okay?" I asked walking towards her. "I'm fine." She wiped her tears with her sleeve. "Obviously not. Betts-"
