drown

What is a promise to you?
Clearly just a word
Don't promise nothing will change
When you know changes can occur

Cross my heart and hope to die
That was what you said
Right before you grabbed a knife
And stabbed my back till I was dead

The scariest thing of them all
Was in your ocean blue eyes
There was no sign of sympathy
They were filled with broken trust and lies

You threw me in the ocean
I screamed and shouted as loud as I could
The salty water filled my lungs
I drifted into sea, I should have known you were no good

When I look at you now
And my sight has been washed by
The ocean you left me in
I see you for you, I see the truth, not a lie

But I can't help but ask
If you knew that you would break it
Why did you swear
Instead of standing up and show some grit

If you admit to be weak
You won't let anyone down
But when you claim to be strong
You're letting someone drown
